We just got back from a wonderful weekend at Mt Kidd in Kananaskis. sure it rained 99% of the time, but that didnt stop us from having a good time on our first family camping trip ever in our new 5th wheel. We loved it so much that we tried to see if they had any openings for the rest of the summer, which they did not , but we are now going to try and plan another trip this summer before new baby arrives in early august. We were not planning on going out again b/c of new baby on the way and being so buys this summer with landscaping and such, but we had so much fun we all agreed that we have to try and get out again, prob in late june.
So i need some advice on where to go in alberta that would have power/water at the site and is within 4 hrs of edmonton? We thought about going to drumheller so that we could take the kids to the dinosaur museum/site but would love to hear about ANY nice campgrounds with decent sites (privacy and size -large enough for our 38' 5er). Thanks in advance!!!!!

Try Bow Rivers Edge at Cochrane CG. Lots of AB history in/around Cochrane. Calgary Zoo is first class; Heritage Park; Fort Calgary, Bar C Ranch Historic Site is south of Cochrane on #22.
Bow River Provincial park has nice sites also - access to Banff etc. from there.

Tell you what...look up Dinosaur Provincial Park up by Brooks. It's where most of the bones came from and is much MUCH prettier than Drumheller. It's also a UN Heritage Site. You'll need to be in contact with them to determine power/water and site availability.
There is a Provincial cg at Brooks too..In think it's Lake Newel. It has hook-ups..that might be a better camp than Dinosaur, but close enough to drive to it. On a lake, etc.
If you go to Drumheller, check out Rt#56/10. Takes you to Rosedale Station and that community has a small campground. I dunno about power/water, but it's waayyy cooler than Drumheller itself.

Not too many places that i would call nice that fit a 38 footer. You tend to limit to more the trailer park type spots as most decent wooded cg's etc can't navigate that long a trailer on some of the curves in the loops. Plus when you look for full service same thing, they do not like to spend $$ putting lots of space between sights when putting in services cost so much. Buy a generator, fill your water tank and get out to some loops in elkwood in peter lougheed.

thanks for all the suggestions. We ventured over to peter lougheed park and we went up to what i think was Upper Kananaskis lake (there was a parking lot, a dam, and a long-ass boat launch down to the water). There was some ice on the lake, there was ice on the launch and some snow on the sides of the roads (not much tho).
Beautiful area up there....

Get aN Alberta camping guide , availible at most info centers, ama etc, there are tons of campgrounds in there with a lot of phone numbers of the camp ground , so you can at least call a head to make sure you fit.
Then there is also "wilderness Campground/ rv" west of Rocky mountain house nice big park with swimmingpool and what ever you need plus it is close to Crimson lake. And in Rockymountain house is a National park as well which is very interesting.

I would go for Banff or Jasper. We've stayed at Tunnel Mtn in Banff with a 41' and it was great. Go for the full hook up sites, they have the most trees and privacy.
