I would recommend that you try Boondocking without a generator - a well charged battery and some water is all you need. You will have to practice frugality with both electricity and water, but that is part of the deal. You take EVERYTHING that you need with you, and take EVERYTHING that you brought in back out when you leave. It is a very enjoyable and serene way to camp. My sig pic was taken on BLM land in Nevada. A great place, and not very far from the highway either.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the photos. I will be placing a lot more on my Webshots album and will post a link to them here. If you would like to see our photos camping in this area from last year...just click the link below my signature. Or click the links below to go directly to their albums:

We have really enjoyed camping up at Red Feather Lakes area. We have camped there several times last summer too. And have always found spots further down from the campgrounds on BLM land.....nestled in the forest.

Hope you get another opportunity to camp there again in the future.

There is some mighty fine boondocking on the north rim of the Grand Canyon in the Kaibab National Forest:

Boondocking on the North Rim

And if I can get my hard-sided trailer out there, you can surely get a PUP out there -- PUPs are much better on rough dirt roads, I think.

Here are some pictures of our last boondocking trip. By the way we dont own a generator but would like one for extending our trips. We got there on Thursday afternoon and our 2 group 27 batteries where just starting to hit 1/2 on Sunday Morning. You will learn to conserve water and batteries, but you will get away from others by boondocking.
