Like others have stated....try the dash first. I have had satellite radio since its inception, and had run through 3 antennas mounting them on the tops of my vehicles. The vibration from the wind eventually loosened the connection wire to the antenna.

I now place the antennas on all my vehicles that do not have factory antennas on the dash (including the MH) and it works perfectly, plus, no more worn out antennas.

We do what bfast does... we use the "home" kit for the myfi and put the black square antenta up on the dash board torward the center. We do not "open" the black the antena as it seems to receive better in the flat or folder position. The antena cord runs back to the docking station which I have a cig lighter power cord plugged into the dash aux power outlet. Then we transmit the signal via the FM setting ont he myfi unit. Works great and no permanent mounting.

james0930,
If your coach came with Sirius it probably has a roof antenna on or just behind the front cap. The Sirius antenna it will work with XM once you get the cable connector to match. That is what I did on my Tiffin which came with Sirius.

My coach came with Sirius like yours and I installed a dash mount for my portable XM. Used the antennae that came with the MH attached directly to the XM radio dash mount. I did not need a special adapter/connector as dontay mentioned. Should work for you.

I had my XM installed in dash and the antenna is a wire that the installer simply ran up to the cabinet above the dash and left in amongst the other television and media cables that are there. It has been generally ok but this winter we experienced some patchy reception and I decided to route the wire under the insulation on the inside of the front cap. I'm not sure it is an improvement but we haven't had the fade in fade out problem as before. Overall we have had pretty good service from XM across country--very few blackouts. Still don't care for all the commercials on the "commercial free" XM service!!!!

I have XM and I mounted the antenna in the cabinet above the drivers position. It has metal shelves and I stuck it on the top one about 10" from the roof line. Ran the wire down the "A" post. Works better there than on the dash.

Have an XMRoady and mounted the antenna from the Home kit behind cabinet above windshield under front cap. Even going through the fiberglass cap, it works great.

I just installed a Sirus system (think it is the same antenna). I first tried it on the dash by the windshield next to my Delorme earthmate GPS antenna. It worked OK but was probably better in some directions than others.
Now I placed the antenna just under the bare fiberglass roof inside an access above the drivers seat. Made a small bracket to hold it. Works great. When I asked the same question a few weeks ago (technology corner) several indicated they had good success inside. My original plan was to glue it to the roof, but the connector requires a big hole to get the cable inside.

Put our antenna on the roof. I mounted a galvanized plate on the roof using roof sealant and routed the cable through one of the existing penetrations and resealed that penetration with sealant. I wanted to use stainless steel, but couldn't get a cheap piece that had magnetic properties for the magnetic mount to hold to. We have always had great reception with our set up.

My MH came with a Siruis Radio and the antenna was installed by the factory on the roof just above the driver....very nice...all sealed and works like a charm....I'd find a way to follow the radio antenna and bring to the roof too
