I've been hearing about them for years and found a "kit" at CostCo the other day. Since my mother absent-mindedly installed my sinuses upside down at birth, they have been the bane of my existence all my life. I thought I couldn't live without OTC nasal spray for most of my adult years and finally weaned myself off them about three years ago. So.........I bought the sinus rinse kit. Has anybody here ever tried them? Well, I suggest, Don't Bother!
First of all, it felt like a near drowning. There is just something abnormal about filling your nose with salt water. I must have done it wrong because my ears are still somewhat stopped up 12 hours later. I have that miserable feeling you get after crying buckets at a sad movie, the reason I almost never cry, even if I stub my toe.
So I have to see if there's a moneyback guarantee on the box. Meanwhile, I'm just hoping I don't get a middle ear infection. Geez!

I have never had a patient not be dramatically more clear after a properly followed sinus rinse.
The procedure has to be followed exactly.
After suffering throughout my teenage years I discovered rinsing with saltwater and have zero problems now.
Please keep trying, it does work.

Yes, we bought our first Neti last year and couldn't be more pleased with the results. The saline rinse has helped my husband have his first healthy, infection free winter in decades. As you said, his adult life has been spent using OTC and RX solutions for allergies and sinus infections. We now have one for the house, the trailer and his travel kit.

I used a rinse done with the ear syringe that you can get at drug store. That was after my sinus surgery - I had totally scared (that is with scar, not scare!!!) sinuses. After surgery they would not keep clear like the surgeon wanted and finally he put me on those. I had no drowning sensation. It was great and have not had to use them for years now.
I would lean over the sink and squirt them up my nose and it would run back out. No interference with my ears.
Hope you can find a way to do this beacause it will help you

I think I got in trouble with the nose blowing part. The instructions said to blow nose gently after washing each side. That's when I felt the water go retro. To be honest, my nose feels clearer today but my ears are still buggered up. I know a lot of people swear by them, so I have to figure out what I did wrong.

Have used warm litely salted water for years for my 'valley dust/pollen' allergys -- just pour in palm of hand & breathe in - tilt head back&side&front then let run out. Each side 4-5 times. Haven't had sinus infection for a long time. (can't do with 'plain' water - burns like son-of-a-gun)

DH has serious issues with his sinuses each spring. Serious being his nose emulating a turned-on tap for 24 hour periods.
Best treatment has been nasal flushing; however, he uses a bicycle water bottle filled with salty warm water. By doing this he's able to NOT resort to steroids. Previously he used Flonase with most success but then developed nose bleeds.

Flonase, I believe, totally obliterated my sense of smell. I also got a rebound effect from it like the OTC nasal sprays. With the sinus rinse, I used warm tap water like the commercial showed. However, our tap water contains Bromine and I wonder if that could've been my problem with it? Do you all boil water or use distilled water like the package insert says?

yes bottled, boiled or distilled. I would never use "city" water to do it.
