Replacing the ELX-45 would mean complete re-wire of the rig central box which is a built-in unit. I just know that would be puzzle I would never get right.

Thread on ELX45 replaced for a PD9260

Should be a replaceable power module that needs 120 volt power and has two output leads for the 12 volt positive and negative connection. Plus a ground wire. Should be easy.

Not much info on the Elixer wibsite

Give Randy a call, he will make it easy Well it should be no harder than connecting the battery charger. A little more time but not technically difficult.

What AGM battery do you have?

For many AGM batteries, the long term float voltage spec is 13.6 volts.

That is the output voltage of the Elixir converters.

Sooo.... I suggest you look at the spec for your battery. The Elixir converter MAY be a good long term charger for your new battery and you can just leave it connected.

Also, some members report that the single voltage converters charge AGM batteries at a higher rate than they do the wet cell batteries.

Problem is that when the generator is running or the shore power is connected there will be 2 chargers suppling power to the battery, the SS-210 AND the ELX-45. This can't be good.

I'd would not mind just pluging in the charger when it is needed but as soon as I turn on the generator the ELX-45 is going to try to charge the battery.

No there would not be 2 chargers running because you do not connect the extension cord to run the Schumacher. You only use the Schumacher when the camper is in storage or you don't want to run the converter for some reason.

During the winter I use a small Schumacher charger to maintain the battery in my 5er. I plug it in thru the umbilical cord and run an extension to the charger. Next step will be to tie the charger permanently to the 12VDC in a safe place (basement) and only use it as needed. I never plug in both shore and charger at the same time.
