We had planned to go to the NC transportation museum this weekend and stay at Dan Nicholis park. I just called and the park is full for this coming weekend. Now I don't know where to go.

Any suggestions on somewhere else to go? We haven't lived here long so I'm at a lose on such a short notice.

We have a 6 & 7 year old and looking for someplace to take them that they'd enjoy. We'll be staying in a TT.

Lake Jordan is out as we have a week trip planned there later. We did the beach last week. We live close to the Zoo so that wouldn't be considered a trip.

I'd like to stay within 1.5 hours of Greensboro.

Where do your young kids enjoy going? I'll keep searching the net and hoping someone here has an idea for us.

You could try Boone, It might be closer to 2 hours. Your kids are just the right age for Tweetsie. I think Thomas is there this week. There are several campgrounds around Mocksville and Statesville. I haven't stayed at any of them.

Hagan-Stone is a Greensboro City Park with decent camping facilities. Trails, exhibits, lake with paddle boats and access to a nearby swimming pool.

Another option is Morrow Mountain State Park. No hookups but a great park.

How about Mayberry? I mean Mt. Airy. There is a new RV park called Mayberry Campground. Haven't seen it but they have a website with good reviews on rvparkreviews.com.
There is also a neat KOA just across the Virginia border.
If you go, let me know hoe it is. We are considering visiting there this summer.

Are you referring to the Fancy Gap KOA? We were there near the end of April. The owners are really nice. Our site was nice but a bit uneven. The campground is hilly and there are some tight turns, but we had no trouble manuevering in our 35' RV pulling a toad. The campground is wooded, but we were given a site that was satellite friendly, and it did indeed work okay. They were working on building a deck around the pool when we were there. I hope they've gotten it done, or it's going to be a bit messy accessing the pool. They have a nice fishing pond. Each site has it's own trash can. Overall we were happy with it. It's a very short distance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We drove down to Mabry Mill and thought it was well worth the drive.

We've driven by the Mayberry Campground several times. It's right off I-74, so I suspect it gets a bit of traffic noise. It looks well laid out. The grass looks nice, but there aren't any trees.

Oak Hollow Campground is run by the city of High Point. It's fairly nice, although most of the shaded sites aren't level enough for my liking. They don't take reservations.

You could also go to Oak Hollow city park in High Point. Great sites, on the water and very close to you.

I would highly recommend Dan Nicolas Park In Salisbury. You could hit I85 and be in Greensboro in probably less than an hour. It is a great park for adults and really great for Children
