I am new to this process, so this subject may have been discussed previously. If so, and you can provide a link that would be fine, or any direct comments. We have had a Class A motorhome now for 3 months, and I am getting it ready for a toad. I will be attaching something to the RV to protect the toad from dings. Any pro/con thoughts on a solid or strip type guard?

If you want to protect the toad get the protect-a-tow, it is a mesh fabric that attaches to the rear of mh and front of toad. The gravel shield on the rear of the mh will help some but will not stop all of the dings, protect a tow will.

Another vote for Protect-A-Tow. I don't know what type of MH you have but some DPs require some modification of the Protect-A-Tow to prevent the exhaust from burning a hole in the fabric.

Scroll to "Tow Defender"

I use this together with a solid rubber rock guard (which is next to worthless in protecting the tow'd)

You're talking about a full lengh mud flap, right? If so, go solid, the strips are******(experience) NOW, you also need a solid type protechtive shield that mounts to the tow bar on the toad, to get any kind of ding protection for the toad. Ours is from Blue OX, as well as our tow bar set-up. These have been on 3 MH's, and 2 different toads, and still working well. P.S. to all. Buy an MT/PT kit to check for stress cracks in the towing components. Good luck !

Do a search under "Protect-A-Tow" & you will find 187 posts concerning it. Most all are very positive about the product. I've found that it not only protects the toad but keeps the MH rear end & camera very clean. It also is easy to hook up, remove & stow.

You don't say & your profile doesn't disclose what type of MH you have so if it is a diesel pusher with rear exhaust you can't use the Protect-A-Tow because the exhaust is too hot & can melt the Protect-A-Tow's fabric.
