Hi, I won a 1984 dodge explorer, I dont pick it up until june 2. Has anyone had any problems with there motorhome moving/shaking when you move around in it? I would hate for my camping neigbors to notice my van shaking while im cooking or showering! I seen a set of 4 stablizers on ebay, there the kind you screw up, there not intended to jack up your motorhome, just to stableize it... Thanks -WncNative

some blocks and screw up jacks on the frame in four corners will level some and take some of the shake out of it.

Sorry, but why do you care what your neighbors think if your a rockin around. If you want to stabilize for your comfort go for it. but to do it because you think your neighbors might get the idea you may be getting some, I would let them think that, good for the old rep.

Not to get too far off topic... for me that old saying goes back to the VW bus days in the late 60's. Have I dated myself?

Since no one is answering your question, I will try to. I seldom notice any rocking when I am walking around or moving in the van. The truck has heavy enough springs to take care of most of that. If, after you pick up your new camper, you will find how you feel about your van moving and how sensitive you are to that movement and can then make the choice if you want jacks. The screw type jacks would work for what your asking, however I have never used any on my camper. Good luck with your new purchase.

You will quickly learn storage is at a premium in a B. Four stabilizing jacks can take up a lot of precious space. My vintage Airstream trailer had permanent stabilzing arms underneath that cranked down. That would make more sense but I've never heard of them on a B.

I doubt that you're going to notice any noticeable rocking or other movement when somebody is walking around inside the B. It probably depends if the chassis is a 1 ton or 3/4 ton for rigidity. Being that space is rather limited, people don't move rapidly or whatever to cause slight shaking. But as Larry noted, if you are sensitive, then maybe some jacks would be the answer. Two problems with them however, placing them at optimum spots under the frame may involve getting yourself dirty or wet in certain conditions, and then the weight and size of four jacks will cut down on your available payload and storage space for all the stuff including passengers that you will be hauling.

Larry's pretty much right. I've had two B's and now have a B-sized C. I've never felt that there was very much motion when parked. I did notice a little tendency of the Tiger to 'dip' to the side when someone climbed aboard. I think it may have been because the step is further from the centerline of the chassis than on the B's. But adding a rear swaybar reduced even that to where it's almost unnoticable.

You'll find plenty of other uses for your money and storage space... But yes, the screw-type stands will stabilize if you feel they're needed, but won't do much leveling. That said, I have seen one older RT with scissor jacks attached permanently to the frame at all corners.
