Our new Wildwood came with an electric awning. Needless to say, we really don't like it very well. Has anyone ever taken one off and replaced it with a manual one?

I know this isn't answering your question, but what don't you like about your electric awning?

It certainly can be done. The mounting holes are different so you will have holes to plug.

I have an electric one and so far I love it. Used it this last weekend in stiff winds with no problems. I really like no low hanging arms to walk into. I am also curious why you don't like yours.

What don't you like about the electric arms? I recently added Carefree Eclipse electric arms to our awning and we love them.

Ditto! I also have an electric awning and love it. Don't know why anyone would want to replace one with a manual one. When I camp, especially at a NASCAR event, other people love it and wish they had one.

our junker jayco came with the carefree electric awning and we cant stand it. If its even a little bit windy it doesn't want to roll out, it will just sit there and spin letting the fabric flop around in the breeze. If you have the awning out and a gust of wind comes along the stupid thing folds up like an envelope then *SNAP* it extends back out. If you are trying to roll it up and its windy that is even more fun.

When it rains the water will just pool up on the awning and we have to stand under it and push up on the fabric to get it to dump.

It's just one of the many many things that we hate about our TT. I'd get a manual awning in a heartbeat but I don't want holes to fill on the side of the TT.

Is your electric awning arms the kind that cannot be set at various angles and can only be relatively flat? I looked at both options and went with the more expensive version that can be set at various angles. We have ours set at the steepest available angle and it is still above my head and I am 6'4". The wind will blow it back sometimes and I don't like that but overall I like it more than the manual version. We use the awning much more when we only have to push a button (-: It is nice not walking into a brace arm like I seemed to do too often.

Hate ours also. Same problems as kc8yhk. We had two trips with rain all weekend and unless we wanted to manually dump the awning every 5 minutes we could not use it at all. I would change ours out also, but don't want patches on a 2008 TT. I am sure if you have a high end electric awning they are great, but if I knew what I do now, I would have either upgraded to a better one or asked that a manual one be put on.
