Just bought new tires for my car and asked about tires for the 5er. Americas Tire only carries Goodyear and Carlyles. The carlyles were 10 ply 15" load E tires. The price was good but are the tires?Just returned from a 5000mi trip thru most of the west and northwest. Noticed the sidewalls were cracking on the Duros. Took it easy and made it home. Won't do another trip with them. Was thinking of Maxxis or BF Goodrich. Does Costco carry trailer tires? Most tire places around here aren't big enough to take the 5er. Would have to bring tires and rim 2 at a time. Need some help. Thanks

There's a million posts on this subject. So, to be brief: In a 15-inch, 80-pound load range E tire your choices are limited.
Carlisles, Denmans (3 of 4 blew on our trailer last summer), Maxxis, Titans and maybe a couple of others.
Everybody will tell you to upgrade to a 16-inch wheel. Many of us can't, so we're stuck with what's available.
Cheers,

I fear the Carlisle tire!
My first fiver had them on it. Lost two on my first trip, and when I got home I inspected the remaining two, and they both had knots on them.
No more for me....

America's Tire/Discount Tire can get any tires in their distributors' warehouses. Tell them what you want, then tell them to show you how low they can price them. They will dicker on the price and guarantee to beat any other shop's price.
There is no such thing as 10 ply tires. Read the fine print on the sidewalls. Load Range E tires are usually 3 plies, except steel cord tires are 1 ply. Load Range D will be 2 or 3 plies.
Costco here only carries Michelin and Bridgestone tires, and neither brand (including Michelin's BFGoodrich brand) makes ST trailer tires.
I would avoid any tires of a know unreliable brand, including their Load Range E tires. I'd rather have Load Range D tires of a known reliable brand.

All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

Remember to check rating on WHEELS if you up the load range!
I'd choose Maxxis, in fact I just did. Discount Tire ordered them in for me.

Do a forum search for "Carlisles" and be ready for some reading! I wouldn't have them again if they gave them to me FREE!

I'm getting some Maxxis 225/75/15 load range D 2540lbs tomorrow from Big Brand Tire. They quoted me less than Discount Tire, plus they'll give me a 10% Military discount. I'm getting all 5 tires mounted & balanced for about $550.

Stay away from the Carlisles. Thay are bad tires. I am running Cooper SRM II's on my fiver. Load range E light truck tires. They work very well.
