I know that a lot of folks like to watch tv outside at night while camping so I'll probably step on some toes here. Please either turn up your hearing aids or get one of those headsets that you see advertised on late night television that picks up the sound from the tv, or simply turn down the volume.

Last Saturday night we were camping at one of our favorite state parks, enjoying the campfire, having smores, and listening to what sounded like the volume from the mega-screen theater from a campsite about 40 yards away. By the time I found a ranger to talk to the folks, the campground host finally asked them to turn the volume down. This was around 10:00pm.

Personally, I prefer the campfire and actually talking with friends and family at night around the fire but I know a lot of folks prefer watching movies. Do whatever makes you happy, but if you are going into a 3,000 acre state park in the mountains, please consider the other campers.

Sorry for the rant.

Your objections are quite appropriate in my opinion.

Thanks guys. I'm just waiting for those who object to the smoke from my fire to reply.

Heaven forbid someone should miss their favorite show because they are camping. Maybe the DVR or VCR at home isn't working to record stuff while your're gone? How awful would that be?

I agree with all of you. If you HAVE to watch TV while camping, turn it down! I can go home and listen to my neighbors playing loud music and watching TV outside. We go camping to relax and have some peace and quiet.

I agree. I also wish people would keep the dogs at home, too. Everyone I know who takes a dog camping must think that just because they like their dog that everyone else likes it too. It's not cute when they bark, it's annoying. Many dog owners tend to block out their dog's barking because they are used to it. I am not used to it and I can't block it out.

Sorry. Rant over.

Now tell me how hateful I am.

I always make sure that your radio or tv is kept at a level that it cannot be heard away from your site.

Have a great time camping,

We don't watch TV when camping. The whole reason we are out there is to enjoy the park. Our dog is always under our control and is not allowed to bark and rarely does. He is well over 100 lbs. and is very well behaved because we make sure he is. What has happened to responsibility?
