Can I raise the front wheels off the ground to level up a workhorse chassis?

Rear wheels never, front wheels not a good idea. Better to drive up on blocks, to raise the applicable end close to level, then level. May also need blocks under the jacks.

Never should wheels be off the ground when leveled. It can twist the frame. Also the shocks will be fully extended due to the weight of the tires so shocks will not last very long or any other chassis part being hung down due to tire weight. Best to support wheels with wooden or plastic ramps before leveling. Or bettter yet, look for a more level spot in campground. I have refused a few sites due to not being close to level some sites had large dips end to end.

I would think it would not be a good idea to level it with the wheels off the ground. I know many are going to say "I do it" but I don't believe the leveling jacks were designed to lift the whole unit off the ground, if they were they would not be called leveling jacks.

Never is my understanding. Especially if there is a lot of movement in the coach and the ground could be soft. I saw one yesterday out in a field, dry camping that the owner had leveled with front wheels off the ground. He went for food, when he came back, the ground had settled a little on one side. The coach moved to the side bending the front levelers and placing the front wheels back on the ground. Not me. Been pretty wet here for several weeks and the ground is soft. And he had a 2X6 under each leveler.

We've done it but I prefer not to. As others have said, I notice that it is much less stable with the wheels off the ground as the wheels help provide side-to-side and front-to-back stablity.

My LCI levelers owner's manual say never lift tires off the ground.

If you lift the tires then put something under them and drop back down. You do not want the jacks under continual pressure for long periods. If leveling then my leveling jacks tech said never have one off the ground since it will bend the chassis. But he said if doing maintanence, like changing a tire, lift both evenly then put jacks under. Do not have the jacks holding the weight for long periods.
