Don't put it on the left side, my last truck had it there and I hit my knee on it nearly every time I got in or out of the seat.

I don't know if the dash is the same for 2003, but I took out the ash tray and mounted it in the hole. It's easy to reach, and if I want to someday remove it to sell the truck, the ash tray snaps right back in leaving no visible holes.
I did think about the knee bolster, but I disagree that it would take a "horrific" accident to hurt your knee. The knee is a very delicate joint. Even in a low speed fender bender if the corner of the Prodigy hits up under your knee cap, you could have knee problems for the rest of your life.

I put mine on the right so that if anything physically happens to me driving the wife can lock the trailer brakes down to possibly help stop the truck.
