Years ago I had a cat (Abysinnian) that liked to play fetch. I remember on one occasion a "friend" threw the ball over the balcony (I lived on the 2nd floor of a 3-story apartment building) and the cat went over the balcony after the ball. Luckily she was not hurt.
We got our chihuahua while camping at the Kern River. He was 7 weeks old and just too cute. His name is Kern River and he has been very much a chihuahua. When we brought him home to our rescued indoor cat she took to him like any good fat cat would. She treated him like her baby and he decided that she was a good new mama. She started licking he from the very beginning. When he decides that we aren't giving him enough attention or he misses his cat he will run up to her and stand right in front of her perfectly still and let her lick him from head to tail. Then he turns around to let her do the other side. If she isn't doing it fast enough he will lean into her and hope she doesn't become upset and swipe at him. His ears and tail are rigid and he really enjoys his little bath. The hard part is after applying their fleas med's, I have to keep them apart for a few days and they both really miss each other. Our other dog a pom/chi also a rescue feels that is not acceptable dog behavior and will do everything he can to interfere. Too cute for words!
Sorry I have Pics, just can't figure out how to post them.

We had a siamese cat Sabrina, 90% of time was inside, occasionally would be outside in yard with us and always stayed close, or so we thought ! One late afternoon, Dorathy, a neighbor lady from about a block away knocked on our door and asked if we owned siamese cat. When we said yes, she returned to her car and removed Sabrina from her front seat and handed her to us. She said earlier in day on her way to her bridge club , she had stopped to pick up 2 other ladies. A few miles down the road one of the ladies asked "Dorathy , are you dropping your pretty kitty off to the vet on the way ? Dorathy looked back into the back seat to see a Siamese cat she had never seen before curled up on her friends lap. They proceeded to their bridge club where Dorathy assured us that Sabrina thoroughly enjoyed all the attention and a few snacks. Turns out, Dorathy had been setting out food for stray cats for years and had left her car window down.
Such funny stories! Reading them made me think back to when our CHLAB (1/2 lab 1/2 chow)was still with us. Ted E Bear was a quiet dog I can only remember him barking on 2 separate occasions the entire time he was with us. One of those occassions was on Valentines night. I did not have to work, but hubby did. So, to surprise him I bought 7 large helium filled messege balloons from the store and tied them to the trees along our driveway. When he came home he brought the balloons into the house. We left the balloons in the living after we went to bed (up to then Ted E. Bear had not paid a moments thought to those balloons). We'd been in bed only a short time when Ted E starting barking and making a horrible racket. Hubby jumped out of bed sure that someone was trying to break in. When he got to the living room there was Ted E growling and barking and the balloons. We had to put the balloons into the basement so that he couldnt see them, but he knew they were there and spent the night harumphing at the basement door (at least he'd quit barking). As we laughed ourselves to sleep I thought that as long as Ted E was around we'd never be robbed.
When we first brought Ted E home (he was a rescue dog) we had to introduce him to our other pets---2 very self centered kitties. Ted E was in love with them at first sight, but of course our 2 snooty ladies had to play hard to get. We had about a week of hissing and stiff legged stalking from the girls whenever he came into a room where they were. I was beginning to think that they would never accept him (oh and he really tried to get them to love him) when I came out to the den early on a Saturday morning to find Ted E curled up by my chair and both cats curled up on top of him!!! It was such a sight. From then on everyone got along. The girls found out that it was fun to hang themselves as "Teddy ornaments" from his fur as he walked around or they'd pounce on his tail as he lay there wagging it slowly from side to side. Every now and then the girls would get a bit much and he'd put them in their place by pinning them to the ground for a minute or two with one of his front paws.
