Looked at the Doubletree's at the Springfield RV show, wasn't impressed with their attention to detail for an $80-100,000 unit. Slide out mechanism was fully exposed and positioned between the tires, oversized cabinets with little functional storage space, washer/dryer compartment looked like an afterthought. The factory rep was talking about the great auto-leveling system on it as he was re-adjusting it because it kept settling! First time I had seen them up close! My impression, there are alot of other units out there built as well and for alot less money.

I researched many rigs for months on their websites. As we are fulltimers the cargo capacity was an issue with alot of the mfgrs.
Some only have 1000# CCC and thats not enough for a FTer. Another issue for a FTer is insulation and the 3-1/4" walls are a plus for the DoubleTree. WE love our rig and other DT owners love their rigs.
If I were not a FTer and over a 10 yr period I would consider 2 of the lower end rigs over the DT. It all depends if you are a FTer living in it day-in and day-out through out the winter and summer.

I'd spend a couple more bucks and get a Teton.
Better construction standards
Better warranty - its transferrable
Better attention to detail
Engineered to last and be rebuilt time and time again
Better resale value
Company is 42 years old rather than Doubletree at 3-4 years?

We've been in out DoubleTree MS 36TK3 unit for about two months. We researched for almost 4 years. Saw a lot of units, visited a lot of factories including DoubleTree. You'll be hard pressed to find a better unit or manufacturer to work with. They will stand behind their product. Like all units, you'll experience problems, ours have been minor, but what counts is who stands behind the unit and will they stay with you and resolve the problems. DoubleTree will.
As mentioned above, your unit choice is somewhat dependent on how much time per year you will be spending in your RV. If your plan is to weekend it now and then, you can spend a lot less money with other brands. If your plan is to be all over the country most of the year or fulltime, you won't go wrong with a unit from DoubleTree. It's what you cant see in a finished unit that determines how long it will last. Things like chassis structure, wall thickness, insulation, cage structure, roof support structure, breaking system, etc.
Also with DoubleTree units you need enough truck to handle these units. Don't put all your money in the trailer and not have enough to buy the right truck to pull it safely.
Good luck researching and continue to do your homework, you'll come up with the correct unit/manufacturer selection for your needs.

Thanks for all the input, I`m not getting rid of my current unit, A friend of mine is looking at the Doubletree and I thought I would ask some of you experts about it.
