Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!! The carpet on my 2000 coachman looks just as yours did. I know what my next project is now, and I was thinking about changing out the carpet, not any more. I just purchased my unit with 14,000 miles on it, so the carpet isn't warn, just faded. It's nice to see people posting such useful information.
Thanks

Rit Dye - Best kept secret for landlords.

Replaced carpet in rentals twice, then I found out about dyeing them saved me thousands of $$$$ over the years.

This stuff works really slick and looks like a new carpet if you pick the same color.

'Changing' the color of your carpet will end up in big surprise if you mix the wrong two colors though.

I just had a fantastic or maybe dumb idea. If you have to spray the dye on,scrub it, and suck out the excess what if you put the dye in a cheap bissel type shampooer? That would do all the above in one shot.

Looks great. I was thinking about replacing my carpet and never thought about using dye. Thanks for the info.

Just got home from a week in our moho, enjoyed the new look of carpet, to answer the questions asked while gone...yes, we have a Cruise Master we bought new in 2000 and actually 8 yrs. later it's better and nicer then when new, with all our mods, and improvements, etc. And to Edouard, they did all that prep work with one exception, they did not remove graphics, but sanded and painted right over, and it turned out Great! my gold tape is on top of clear coat, and is holding up well, I striped many cars before so not new to that.

How did the dye hold up?

What happens if you walk around in your socks, so they get blue?

How about wet shoes, does the dye come off on them?

Let make sure I got the process right..

Powder dye mix with water
Spray and brush in dye
Wet the carpet and shop vac - this is that part I'm unsure of??

Thank you!!!!!

Just started dyeing my carpet and hope to finish up in the next couple of days. Carpet was a medium gold color and was past the shampooing stage so we went to a cocoa brown. Cockpit area is complete and still have to do around dinette and sofa and the bedroom. DW decided that as long as I was doing this I might as well put in hardwood floors. Pergo is sitting in the family room patiently awaiting me. The new Euro recliner is sitting next to the Pergo, and the upholstery guy is due to be here tomorrow to give estimate on redoing the captain chairs, and the beer is in the fridge. What did I get myself into? BTW, the dyeing process is pretty simple and easy, just gotta keep brushing the nap of the carpet back and forth to insure good coverage. When the total project is complete will get DD to try and post some before and after pics (I never have figured out how to do that). Hope you all have a good weekend, guess what I will be doing, and it's only suppose to be around 108 degrees all weekend.
