Does anyone know of any campgrounds in or around Yosemite Valley and around Sequoia National Park ? Need to make reservations for the 4th of July. I know is kind of late but lets give it a try, maybe we get lucky and someone has cancelled. Thanks
Since the Valley is already booked for the summer, the only one I know of that is close to Yosemite is Yosemite Pines. There are a number of posts about it and it seems very good. Do a search and you'll see.
There are some 1st-come 1st-served campgrounds in Yosemite. They too fill up fast so you will need to get there Sun-tues at least.

We travelled through the park a few years ago and managed to get a nice spot at Indian Flats rv park and motel for labor day week-end. It is a fairly short drive into the valley.

Yosemite is tough. Unless you stay in the park, you will have to do a lot of driving every day to get anywhere.
For a visit to Sequoia and Kings Canyon we stayed at Kaweah Park Resort in Three Rivers. Old-fashioned campground, but it is right on the river (two, in fact) and close to "town". Here is a link to photos of the campground and my travel blog (with some pretty good photos if I say so myownself) of our visit to the parks.
