For all you guys out there who have already been playing with this -- if I hook up the pass through type dtv converter box into our radio shack switching box on the incoming tv antenna line will this work? We have one of the switching boxes with two sections one for which tv (front or back) and for the various pieces of the electronics pie (satellite, vhs, dvd, antenna). Also, if anyone know which of these goodies (the converter boxes) is the least the likely to really mess everything up. This is the co-pilot, co-driver, and all the time family tech person asking. I hope this is easy -- we're just getting back on the road after building our new home twice -- furnace ignitor burned it down a month from being finished the first time. This is just one of the things to get updated on the coach. Thanks. The lady and the pope and the berners and cats.
Now, a question (NOTE that the answer don't much matter) Does your switch box provide power for a roof-top antenna pre-amp?
Step one. Obtain a "Satellite type" Splitter, this type of splitter is 1: Better at UHF and 2: has POWER PASS THROUGH on one port to the common lead
Remove the antenna wire from the switch box and attach to the COMMON terminal on the splitter.. Hook a jumper from the PASS THROUGH to the switch box
The other port goes to the converter
Converter OUT goes to AUX on the switch box
Pass through on the converter don't matter
Now.. If your box does not pass power... Then you can try just putting the converter in the antenna lead... I'm told pass through may not be all that good however.. Don't know as neither of my boxes have that feature.

The switching box does not provide power to the antenna. We have a separate antenna booster switch for that over in an entirely different cabinet bay. And boy is that electronics bay in the front getting full -- I'm going to have to put some things in the other half of it and that means new longer coax -- Oh well. I'll go ahead and hook it up inline with the antenna feed to the switching box, but I'll have to wait until we get on the road about July 1. We live 35 mi east of Durango and the only signal for tv we get is from our satellite dish -- npr is a stretch on some days. I'm getting us set to head east in July to WNY, then Canada, PEI & NS, in Sept - Oct. New house is rented so that will offset a little of that diesel.
Our Weinguard distribution box has the power booster switch on the front of the box, DOES this mean we MUST hook-up the converter on the out-to-TV line and NOT on the antenna-in line? Sounds like we will need a converter for the rear TV also? Experts please confirm. Thanks Richard

You either put the converter on the "OUT TO TV" line, or on the OUT TO VCR Line (SUGGESTION) or you use a Satellite type splitter with power pass through on the FROM ANTENNA line with the pass through port going to the Winegard box and feed the converter's output to the AUX in if it's not occupied
Another option is to feed the converter to the VCR's AV inputs if they are not occupied.
