Checked out a brand new 08 Yukon xl the other night and the payload capacity is a little better than the Toy. I am seriously considering the GM. Found a previous GM program 08 Yukon xl with only 42 miles on at a $10K discount...let's see what trade values are on my Trailblazer and go from there.

Figured I should update everyone.
We pulled the trigger on a preowned 07 Yukon xl 1500, 5.3 and 3.73 gears. We just got back from a 1700 mile trip to Niagara Falls and around lake Erie. We are very pleased the way the Yukon pulled the trailer and it sure is nice having more room for everyone. I packed the trailer so well that we had virtually nothing in the payload area of the Yukon except a small cooler and a laptop.
If I spent more time traveling I would have opted for the 2500 but we spend a lot more time driving this vehicle without the trailer than towing.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to help us make our decision!
Now, I've got to find some nice mirror extenders! ;-) The one's from my Sierra don't fit. ;-(

I think your TT would be a nice match for an '08 Sequoia. They sure are sharp vehicles!

I have the exact same TT.
I had a 2000 F150 1/2 ton. It pulled it fine, except in heavy winds or up mountains/big long hills. And even then it managed.
I now have an 2008 F250 Diesel. Diesel aside. I think the 3/4 ton frame etc. makes a HUGE difference. I enjoy my tows a lot more now.
Honestly, I don't think I'll ever pull a large TT or Fiver without at least a 3/4 ton, it is just much more comfortable. The 3/4 might be a little overkill, but it is just that much more pleasurable towing. And I've done LOTS of towing with my 1/2 ton, and relatively little towing with my 3/4 ton so far.
I know this is pulling you away from the Sequoia, but this is MHO.

We own an 07 Jayflight 29bhs which weighs 5600 lbs before we add about 1000 lbs of gear and food. We've been towing it with an 04 silverado Z71 ext cab with a 5.3/tow package and have had no problems to date. My children are getting larger and we want a larger vehicle but I really don't want to buy a 4 door 3/4 ton.
We have owned a Yukon xl in the past but are seriously considering a brand new 08 Toyota Sequoia with a towing capacity of 10,200 lbs. This vehicle looks like it really fits us perfectly but I'm a little leery of the shorter wheel base.
A suburban or Yukon xl has a 130" wheelbase but the Sequoia is only 122". Anyone have any opinion or experience with this combination of trailer length and wheelbase? Will the 8" make that big of a difference?
Hi there, I am towing a 29FBS behind my Tundra crewmax, no probs.

Good luck with your decision. I believe you made the right one. After
reading the thread, I am glad to see you went with a longer wheelbase....the longer wheelbase is very important. You will be happy with your GM. Were very happy our 1/2 ton mainly because of the wheelbase and the tremendous amount of storage as we have a leer cap on ours.....
We have even gone as far as adding three racing seats across the back of the cab with seat belts to hall up to 9 in a pinch....works out great when on and leaving the beach...or running to and from the slope with a large group..
We too use ours more w/o the TT

Well I just towed our TT for the 1st time with our Yukon XL. I always have towed with the truck in my sig, which has E rated LT tires. The Yukon XL has P rated tires. I absolutely hated the feel of how the Yukon towed the TT. Felt very soft in the rear end and even felt a bit of sway which I NEVER have with my truck. Had plenty of power, but those soft tires are not for me. I think a new set of LT tires would make a world of difference for this vehicle.
