My wife averages 13 MPG around town with our 06 Dodge Durango with the 4.7 liter V8. We go to Rochester, MN 4 times a year and average 21 MPG each time. I picked up our newer PUP last week and got about 17 MPG on the way home. That was just a 60 mile trip home though.

Sincerely,

Jay

Hmmm . . . if you can afford a camper I think cost of fuel is secondary. Same if you can afford a super diesel powered fantastapickup or suv. Humans are funny critters.

Actually, it wont be long before my monthly car payment is less then my monthly gas bill.
Gas is already more then my camper payment...
So that might not hold water Nyssa...

Mine already IS! And the Ford gets the best mileage out of the last 4 trucks I had, 2 with V6s!

But then our almighty leader said to treat is as another tax! Don't let the door hit you in the ***, you ***.

Have a good one.

I just bought a trailblazer to pull my westlake with and I'm shocked at the low around town milage.I get 17.4 and about to take the 1st trip pulling with it.I sure hop0e it gets a little better than that. What is your tv and trailer and what kind of milage do you get?thanks. sj
The Trailblazer with the 4.2L straight six was rated at 21mpg HIGHWAY under the optimistic old EPA calculations.
An actual 17.4mpg around town is GOOD!

I agree... I drive a 2004 Ascender - same thing.

You didn't do your homework before you bought the Trailblazer, otherwise you'd know that for around town your mileage is good. And don't expect to get 20mpg highway, either, unless you're driving on flat roads, no wind, and you don't go about 50mph.

what did you expect?

to answer the towing question, I noticed a slight drop in towing MPG with the Ascender, only when towing through hilly country - mostly because it stayed in 3rd most of the time.

We towed a 2000 Coleman Utah with a Ford Explorer 4.0 SOHC V-6 and got 14 to 15 mpg going about 60 mph. We also towed our HTT with the same Ford and got 10 mpg.

our 4WD TrailBlazer gets the same mileage as noted - I'm happy when I see a combined 20mpg on my fillup! Although also scared because that means I've been driving it too much empty.

Towing our 3000# 1008 we average about 14.5-16. The worst we've seen is in the 13 range when we encountered a stiff headwind coming back through Montana. So if you're looking for better mileage, you should have looked at the Acadia/Outlook/Enclave/Traverse instead. Sorry.
