You can wave if you want but I won't usually return the wave. I rarely see them and the one or two a year I do I'm usually too busy controlling my truck and trailer to respond. My question to the op and others is...Are you that insecure that you can't feel good just by waving yourself and instead require a response? Doesn't it seem rude and make you as much the "me" generation as any other generation by you requiring that others stop what they are doing just so they can "wave" back to you?
I was taught that when you give to someone, even something as simple as a wave, you do so from your heart and require nothing in return. What happened to that line of thinking?

This is addressed to the 98% of you who don't wave at a passing RV to acknowledge a fellow traveler. Most of you are old fartz like me and should know better - you were raised in a generation who thought of others, who displayed manners and courtesy, who were genuinely happy to see people and who thought of yourselves second, not first. I can forgive (almost) those generations that have followed us as they are primarily concerned with themselves to the exclusion of others. But you - and you know who you are - have no excuse. Don't just stare ahead when you pass a fellow RVer, wave your hand to say "hi". It will brighten up his day and may even improve yours. You might even try to smile every once in awhile. And, while we're at it, ask your wife to put a little less starch in your shorts. That will make it easier to raise your hand while you are seated.

Sorry....I must have been nodding off again...!

Well now I have a real good reason not to wave. I could be waving at a grouch like you Dennis!
Gotta' love people that try to tell everyone else what they are doing wrong, how to live their lives and worry about what I am not doing.

Please tell me there are more important things to be concerned about, such as all of the other responders to this thread that are walking to the fridge, drinking beer, viewing e-mail and concentrating on whether other drivers are waving, while driving 60' worth of rig at 65mph!! Oh, and let's not forget about world peace. Hee-Hee!!!

When I am passing or getting passed I always give a thumbs up. Is that the same thing as waving? A thumbs up to you all...

manners or courtesy has nothing to do with waving or not waving at other RVers. If it makes you feel good then do it. As others have said I don't wave at other car operators when I drive the wifes car. I also don't wave at other RVers. One thing that is common in rural areas is most truck owners will wave at other truck owners but don't wave at cars/vans/suvs/bikers/etc.

I'm one of those who do not assume that everyone is friendly. Therefore, I always wait to find out if they are, and I do this by playing a little game. I wait and wait to see if they are going to wave, and if they do I wave back. It's surprising to find out that most of them do NOT wave. What a GROUCH!

I wave regularly but maybe get a wave back about 1/3 of the time (only counting the ones where I can see the driver). If I get a long stream of no wave backs I tend to sulk and stop waving.

So make me feel better by either waving back or initiatign the wave yourself...lighten-up.

For those that say "I don't wave a other cars when I'm driving a car" - you're right, but then that is the general population. We are a select group of individuals - ever notice motorcyclist, they typically wave, nod or other wise acknowledge each other... it's a sign of brotherhood, a common interest that not everyone shares.

I wave, often without it being returned... I don't care, I still wave. I also wave a fellow Excursion owners; again, it's a brotherhood. So if I pass you and wave, if you choose not to wave back, it's all good.
