i"m not that good at math but 6mpg and a 50gal tank at $4 a gallon would seem like a stop every 300 miles for a $200 fill up.

Yes, that is what I figured up. The man who has donated this RV to us for our Missionary work and Youth Group activities sent me an email yesterday to tell me that he got 8 mpg and it has a 60 gal tank. Thanks for the info!

Actually, what he said was that he got between 8 and 11 mpg. That he was always towing a horse trailer and drining in the mts., running very well and he used premium gasoline.
I really appreciate youall taking the time to leave info here for me. Owning an rv/motorhome is new to us.

We had an 1985 mh about your size for 12 years that we kept up pretty regularly. I would definately have it all checked out with new hoses and the works before you hit the heat of Mexico or even Texas! Plus, go slow and don't overload it!

It may need new tires, belts, hoses, fluids & filters in everything. You may first need to spend up to $2,500 just to get it road worthy.
I believe he said the "motor" has 15k miles on it. but yes every thing else needs to be checked before it goes on the road.

Bunnie, just in case you haven't been told, Welcome to the forum. We travel I 40 to W. Memphis then I 55, 57, 70 when we come to Ohio, and gas and Diesel are always cheeper in Missouri. Bless you for what your are doing and hope you have a good trip. We are currently enjoying the cool weather (to us) in Ohio.

Bunnie wrote: Thanks for the info! Can you tell me how big the gas tank is/was on yours. Sounds like it is the same as the one we just received. You're right, it is 23' long, not 22'. I am trying to figure up how much in gas $ I am going to need for a trip to Mexico (round trip from Ohio to Mexico is 3,400 miles). I am thinking that if I know, roughly, how many gallons per fill-up I can figure out, roughly, what the trip will cost in gas alone. WOOO HOO at $4.something a gallon!
I have another dumb question............Do these things have 1 or 2 gas tanks and if there are 2 how any gallons per tank?
Thanks again,
Bunnie Depending on how far south into Mexico you go will effect your fuel costs also. You can expect to pay $2.50/gal once in Mexico.

SLOW DOWN!!!Im a lead foot and its hard for me to drive slow.Been driving the 88 Minnie at 65 and 70 for the past year or so.Getting around 210 mile to the tank full.Last two trips I took I went with a fellow camper who refused to go over 55.I couldnt believe the fillups.I was going 200 mile on a little over half tanks for a change.Still havnt worked out the milage yet but at 9-10 mile at 65 versus about 15-16 mile at 55 you can bet my lead footin days are over in the Minnie.
