We were there for Memorial day. Stayed at Spring Gulch. Very nice campground, but you have a choice be in walking distance to the pool and hot tub or be close to everything else! I second the suggestion on Shady Maple. It was great, the food was very good for a buffet with a lot of selection. I couldn't walk on the way out!
Old Mill Stream Camping Manor is very nice, well maintained and conveniently located. I just spent a couple of days there at a rally.
This campground has some of the nicest showers I have ever seen in any campground.
Your kids might enjoy going to Dutch Wonderland an amusement park which is right next to the campground, and there are a bunch of outlet shopping malss and restaurants very close by.
If you didn't have children, I'd recommend Beacon Hill Camgpround in Intercourse, PA, which is surrounded by Amish farms and within walking distance to some very nice shops. They don't tolerate noise at Beacon Hill, and there isn't much for children to do.
This is my second time staying at Old Mill Stream, it's a fantastic place. It's really simple, no pools, small playground but has wireless internet and cable. Even though it is simple, it's one of my childrens favorite place cause it is right next door to Dutch Wonderland. The outlet malls are very close by as well. There's a walmart close by too. I am actually here right now for the weekend. The spots are a bit close with their T shaped formations but more secluded than other spots in the way the are designed. I use our facilities but I did check out the bathrooms and they are clean. I drove 5 hours in traffic to get here and it was well worth it.
Lake in Wood is our favorite campground in Lancaster. Beautiful sites, nice campground, lots of activities, and the golf cart rentals are fun, too! I loved the jacuzzi spa, and the kids had fun at the indoor pool (we went the beginning of May)
After the reviews on there I decided to drop by Lake in the Wood and stay one night, on the way back to NY. This park is fantastic. It has all the amenities for the kids but I personally like Old Mill Stream better. If you plan on going to a campground and not leaving then Lake in the Wood is the winner easily. The park is huge. There are are 4 pools located right next to each other which works out great. My 8 year old was in the 3ft pool while my 4 year old (she's small) was in the 1ft pool. Since they were right next to each other we we able to keep an eye on both of them. The sites are very very wooded. They are a decent size but I easily hear conversations of the party behind me. You cannot hear the person next to you but the party behind me was about 10-15ft away. The spot I had was very difficult to get into since there was a 5ft drop off in front of me. They did escort me to my site. The front office is fantastic, the cafe was excellent as well. 4 of us ate for under $20! Where can you find that nowadays, the prices were excellent. The front office had ice cream too for a great price. The entire campground is spotless. If you need something outside of the campsite plan on driving at least 15-20 minutes for closest shopping areas. So far so good, we leave in the morning. Oh, and the wireless internet works great. I am at Site "N" and I have a pretty strong signal.
Old Mills Stream - very cosy, campground is setup in a way to make friends easily, great if you want to do some outlet shopping or visit Dutch Wonderland, close to all. No pool though.
Lake in the Wood - excellent if you want to stay at the park for a few days, has lots to offer, reminds me of a upper class resort type when you enter and see the pool setup.
