2004 F-350 SRW Crew Cab 8' box w/4.10 gears:
daily driving - 15 mpg
towing 11,000 fifth wheel - between 10 and 11.

With only 43,000 miles on the truck I'm waiting for the break in period to finish before making any extravagant claims!

I had a 2006 F350, CC, long bed, SRW, 6.0L, 4x4, 3.73

Mileage was 16 MPG empty @ 70 MPH, Towing 10K @ 70MPH was 10 MPG

I loved the truck but had MANY problems with the 6.0L engine.

I have an 05 6.0 crew cab short box 4x4 with 3:73 rears. When I am driving 60-62 I can get 19.5 mpg solo. At the same speed towing my 14,000# fiver I get around 10.5 - 11 mpg depending on surroundings.

I do about the same as fordtruckguy with my stock '05 F-350 4x4 CC SRW Harley Davidson(see sig) with the 3.73 gear and near 40K miles.

I'm getting ready to do an exhaust (leave in converter - open it up to 4"), intake and BD controller as mileage will improve (middle son did it and got +4.5 mpg empty, + 2.5mpg towing). He now has an '08 F-450 with the 4.30 gear and gets 10.5 empty and 8 towing. He wishes he had his old rig back!

RCFlyer, tell your son to ease up on the go pedal, and be patient for the miles to roll up. I consistantly get 12.5+ mpg with my truck in mixed driving. Mid 13s if using the cruise control set at 60mph, now with 13,500 miles on the truck. His 4.30s should allow him to drive 65mph and get the same mileage I am getting.
BTW, did not the original poster label this post, "6.0 PSD owners only please".

Similar results with DRW 4 x 4

Highway with tonneau cover 17-18.

Towed an 6000# 5ver last week for about 50 miles and got 14.

James,
I thought about you today.
Was sitting with the wife at a local drive up restaurant, eating under the shelter.
I heard this strange sound coming from a vehicle that was backing into a parking space.
Turned around to see a 6.0 PSD, smoking white smoke, running rough, cutting out almost to the point of dying.

Good luck.

I agree, the Ford Looks Better, Rides Better, Nicer inside, lots of frills like a locking tailgate, dual visors, big seats, But, I needed RELIABILTIY, Personally, Reliablility trumps the other stuff Ford has over the Dodge, but you have to do what you have to do...,Why don't you just go to a gas engine while you're at it?, Better on the wallet as far as maint.... The fuel costs less too...
