How many of you use them when you plug in your motorhomes?
I think I need to get one to make sure we don't get zapped.

I installed the Progressive EMS, surge protector all in one. Good investment after having two friends with over $6,000. in electrical repairs due to a lightning strike in the RV park, the other was due to a major power surge in the park. Not to mention how many times mine has worked due to low voltage in the parks. Glad I installed it.

Try a transzorb, it is faster and will take more hits without blowing up. Also when they do fail, I've never seen them open up and and quit protecting. Failure mode is to short out, blowing a fuse.

Most well-experienced rvers use a surge protector. We got the Surge Guard 50A from Camping World. It protects from high or low voltages as well as surges. It has saved us several times. There are likely even better protectors, but don't cheap out - get a good one.

We have a 50 amp Surgeguard hard-wired surge protector. It has been triggered 7 times that I know of since we installed it. When it detects over or under voltage or a surge that is outside the limits it will trigger and remove power from the coach. It then monitors the power for a couple of minutes and when the power is stable again it will apply power to the coach. If the power pedestal is missied wired it will also detect that and refuse to apply power to the coach. Fairly cheap insurance against the possible damage that could occur in the coach. Been there and done that. Thats why we now have the surge suppressor.

We recently purchased the Surge Guard 50A from Camping World, too, but every time we've tried to use it, it has never fit the campground outlet; either the campground pedestal was too short or the plug-in wasn't flush with the receptacle. Is the only answer a short 50-to-50 pigtail adapter? Do they even make such a thing? We really wish we'd been able to plug it in this weekend, as there was a severe storm that passed through while we were camping.

I don't want to hijack this thread but I have an easy question. I have just ordered a Franks Autoformer, do I need a suppressor(already have one) in that line too?If so, before or after Franks.
