We are here now is site 15B, Castaways section. The private pool for this section didn't open in time for us and they gave us $5/night off our site rate. The total for 5 nights for 2 adts, 3 children ages 12, 14 and 16 with tax was $495.00. The private pool is ridiculously small. It isn't even as big as peoples inground pools in their back yard. If 15 people decided to get in at the same time, it would be overcrowded. The regular pool had 36 people in it the other day and it was crowded. 20 more people and nobody would've been able to move at all. They made the pools way too small. The store is in a makeshift trailer because they are not builiding their store and rec building until the fall. The sites in the Castaways section are big and paved with a separate parking area for your car. Most sites are a good size. I don't know that I would pay extra for the Castaways section again. I will be posting a reveiw on the campground review site when I get home. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

No, it's on the bay and has a small sand bay beach area. The campground has brand-new everything, but definitely needs to fine tune the operation. Mis-communication everywhere which is understandable since they are really just barely up and running.

Gryyg - We're leaving Castaways tomorrow. I'll take a photo for you and post it in the next couple of days. Their free Wifi is spotty at best.

Looking at the map, site 277 is nice, but your awning faces away from the water (I think I remember correctly) but it's a great site as far as proximity to the dock and having a little more room. You are also far enough away from the golfcart parking that you shouldn't hear the backing up beeping sound. You do have someone right behind you, but it was very spaced out and I don't think that will be a problem.

Greygg - Here's a link to some pictures of site #277. (I do these slide shows all the time so they're easier for me to post photos.) Like Gloria described it is a nice site but your awning will be facing away from the water views.
Overall we were happy with the campground. We had a site that backed up to the golf course. We were really surprised at how calm the area was during the 4th of July weekend. I think the area nearer to the water is a little more lively than the areas in the rear of the campground. The entire campground has paved roads they are very easy to negotiate by bike, instead of the gravel roads we were accustomed to in campgrounds. I agree that the pools are entirely too small. I also feel their activities weren't what they should have been. They had no way of announcing activities except a dry erase board and didn't seem to have much scheduled.
I think they're still going through some growing pains but think by next summer this campground will give Frontiertown a run for their money.

Drove thru campground this past Tuesday(7/8). There was no security as you entered. Anyone could drive right into campground. Roads were paved, but most site are too small for me to consider. You better like your neighbors. THe "club" castaways looks like it had bigger sites, but you did need a card to drive thru there. Buildings look nice. Main pool looked way too small for # of campsites. No shade to speak of. Beach area was nothing special. I will continue staying at Fort Whaley and go to beach at Assategue. I need to give this campground more time.
