I drove through Castaways this morning (6/1). All of the sites are paved in the "Club Casaways" area and all of the sites in the other parts of the parks are level gravel. Electric boxes are in on all sites but I don't think its was connected yet. Sites appear to be very reasonably sized. You will not be right on top of your neighbor. I was surprised and pleased with the size of the sites.
The fixed builings are built. The store/office at the entrance is very nice. As are the 2 or 3 bathhouses. I didn't get out of the car to check the status of the interior of these buildings.
The pool is in and the rebar for the concrete decking was in place. Looked like that would be poured this week.
Looked like the crabbing/fishing pier was under construction and not too far from completion.
My eatimate on time for completion?? I think July 4th is possible and if you have an August reservation (as I do), you should be in good shape.

Thanks for the update. We're supposed to have a seasonal site at Castaways but they keep moving back the opening date. (Last we heard it was 6/13 but evidently that date is now in question.)
I understand the issues they're having but the delays are really messing with our plans for the summer. Hope they finish soon.

I called Castaways this morning to find out when their opening date was and they said tomorrow is opening day 6/12. I am really getting nervous because I have reservations from the 24th of June until July 5th. If anyone has any additional information, I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I was down this last weekend and drove through myself. It looks very nice can't wait for my first visit. I will be at Castaways July 21 - 28 I'm on 16B in Club Castaway section.

Keep calling them every few days. They have told us that one section has been approved to open and additional sections are opening each Friday. Try to find out where your site number fits - has it been approved or is it on the list for later in the month? They indicated that they will move people to other sites when available if the reserved one isn't approved. We'll see. . .

Just looking at their website, the place seems like it will be nice. We're not planning on being in the area this summer, but next year might be a possibility and if that's the case, we would definitely consider this new campground if the reviews support what the website claims.

Just talked to them today. They are open! Their pool is scheduled to open next weekend and their playground is scheduled to open the following week. See you there in July.

Did a drive thru last week. Not much looked ready to open. There is a real lot of more construction still going on and most of the park will not be ready for people to enjoy for weeks if not months.

WOW! I am really worried after reading this last posting. Thank you all so much for all the info. I am scheduled to be there on the 25th of June and I am staying until July 5th. I have been going back and forth pondering whether to keep my plans and go or cancel.
