Here is how I plan to remodel my little trailer so we can sleep more comfortably. Right now the couch folds out to a very uncomfortable bed.
I think we'll be a lot more comfortable with twin beds.
The new twin beds will only be 76" long, but as both DH and I are 5'5", it should be perfect for us. Also we will replace some underbed storage with drawers, and the top of the drawer unit will fold out into a table that we probably won't use unless we are rained in.
Here's the current layout:

Here's the planned layout:

I think that is the best usage of our 12' box for the two of us!
I am also planning to put drawers under the beds so we won't have to lift the cushions to access that space.
Any suggestions for a better way to do it?

Sounds like a great remodel Sunny.
I had a low hutch across from the dinette w/drawers in our popup. The drawers kept coming out when traveling, coming off track when I using them. I had DH change them into cupboards, (Idea stolen from Oz on Popup Explorer)using the drawer fronts as the cupboard door. Was able to store much more in them as cupboards and didn't have to deal with the off track problem.
Another solution for under the beds where you plan to put the drawers could be latching cupboard doors w/ pull out bins for storage?
be sure to post pics when you are done!

Thanks, campknitter!
Actually, I was embarrassed to admit that I don't feel confident in building drawers, so I planned to use nice looking, sturdy rectangular baskets with molding about 3/4-1" high in front of the bottoms of them to keep them from sliding out.
(blush)
However, I probably could build cupboard doors. Maybe I could use picture frames with a wood insert in them?
You can tell I am NOT a carpenter.... just hoping this project ends up looking decent.
Actually our trailer is a pop up, but it is hard sided with no canvas and doesn't have the expanding bunks like a popup. So I feel more comfortable considering it a tiny travel trailer.
Right now I am restoring a soggy floor (in places) and trying to make sure I have all the leaks stopped up. I will probably post some pictures of that process first, but I will be sure to show off my remodel job when it's done, too!
I really love having this forum for tiny trailers where sharing things like my little amateur remodeling project is not considered a joke! (I hope!)

Before we got a trailer, I set up a van with beds pretty much the way you have proposed. Worked great. The diff was we had a table the length of the bed. The table was made with a wood frame and a 1/4" ply top so it was very light. Mounted it on a removable rv tube mount. You could easily seat six.
On our first TT, the previous owner made drawers using the cabinet doors for the drawer front. This may not maximise usable space but it is very convenient. Much better than being on your hands and knees with a flashlight, looking for the can that rolled to the back! As for drawers opening, this person cut a shallow notch on the bottom sides. Lift up to open.

That's really interesting that campknitter used drawer fronts to make cupboard doors and the previous owner of your first tt made drawers using cabinet doors for the fronts!
I think I'll kind of feel my way along as to where drawers or cupboards would work better.
One thing I did with the old arrangement was put a set of sterilite drawers inside a cupboard door which was the best of both worlds for small grooming items, tape, pens, etc.
Thanks F1bNorm!

Close, Campknitter! I have an Aliner.
I thought I wanted to trade up, but with gas prices the way they are I think we'll be happy keeping this one for a while!

I like your proposed new floorplan! How wide will the beds be?

We purchased a cloth Pirates truck from IKEA to use for clothing storage under the bed. Because it's cloth we don't have to worry about it scratching anything and it never moves much. Easy to pull out to get clothes. We can also take it into the house form time to time to go through seasonally.
Cheap and in the children's section.

stpauligirlmn, I haven't decided whether to make the beds 28" or 29" wide. The trailer is only 76" wide, so the wider the beds, the narrower the space between them. I am leaning toward 28". That will give us a 20" wide walkway.
Essie2Go, I think we will stick with the baskets so we can keep our underwear, socks, shirts and pants sorted separately. If we keep our clothes in one container, they get all jumbled up together.
