We have ordered a 5th wheel (first one - have a TT now)and have a question regarding the B & W Turn Ball Hitch. We are not looking for opinions as to which hitch is the best; but just have a question regarding the quality, etc of the B&W hitch. It has been a hard decision to give up the cap on our p/u truck so this is the reason we have been looking at the B&W hitch (to avoid all that iron in the bed when not pulling the trailer). We had seen the B&W this winter when we were in TX and liked the idea and just ordered from our local dealer (who we deal with now); but he didn't have any experience with this hitch and someone else told him that these hitches are prone to cracking, etc. so we want to make sure we are making the correct decision. I can't seem to find any information when doing a Google search so am looking for someone that has (or had) the experience with this hitch. Any information would be appreciated. TIA

I have one and have had no problems with it. Most folks who see it seem to like the design.

We have the B&W turnover ball with the Companion 5th wheel hitch. I have owned several 5th wheel hitches. I have to say without question this rates at the top. Very simple operation, very safe and when removed your Truck bed is clean. When you properly hook to your 5th wheel with safety pin in place you don't have to worry about droping you 5th wheel on you Truck. The B&W 5th wheel hitch can be removed in about 10 minutes and by one person. And you actually have two hitches in one. The B&W also fits properly and you don't have to drill holes in the frame of the Truck. My B&W system was installed in under 2 hrs. Its a very professional system made and designed by people who actually have pulled a 5th wheel. Good Luck on your choice. GBY....

As Delaine and Lindy said it's a great unit! We've got about 10K on ours and love it - middle son put one in his new F-450 after trying ours and a buddy ordered one (dealer installed from Dodge) with his new Ram 3500. We installed ourselves in about 4 hours.

Also, we installed a MOR/ryde pin box - another great unit - took about 20 minutes to install and is a great unit!

I've only been running with mine for about 4000 miles so far and it has been flawless, easy to use and easy to take in and out of the bed.

Last year I asked for feedback on here regarding the B & W setup and had approximately 30 responses with not one negative in the bunch.

And to date have not seen or heard any negative comments about them.

You made a good choice.

I installed a B&W on my then new rig in 01, used it as a gooseneck for a couple years, then got tired of crawling in and out to hook and unhook the safety chains, so I got the Companion and have put many a mile on it. Works great a very poaitive latch, when you see the claws around the pin you know that your'e hitched.

This companion is my first fiver hitch, and so far I would say it's the only thing I'd ever need or want.

Haven't seen or heard anything about cracking on any part of the B&W system. I think I would have had to ask who this person was who had the cracking problem. I know for sure B&W factory would like to know. GBY....
