We have only ever stayed at Drummer Boy Campground one time and we thought it was very nice.

I like that one too! This one is also tops on our list:
GraniteHill

We live about 20 minutes south of G-Burg. If you are planning on touring the battlefield, bring lots of water. Also, the sites in town fill up pretty fast in the summer months. So, you'll need to reserve now. If you want, I can give you other CGs that we would recommend. Most others do not have cabins though.

We've gone to Granite Hill and Gettysburg CGs. We preferred Gettysburg CG. Had a tough time getting level where they put me at Granite Hill. Also won't be able to get my kids to go back to Granite hill after the Security Guard told us that there is a Ghost in their barn. If this is your first time, take a day and go into town, find the antique shop in the main street area, there was a tree stump for sale at the shop for about $5000. Why? It was riddled with muzzle and cannon shot from both sides.

The Gettysburg KOA is really nice - very clean, has a pool, has cabins (some of them up a steep hill & almost secluded!) and decent sites, both back-in & pull-thru. We camped there last year in our HTT and really enjoyed it. The entire ground at the CG is covered with large gravel, which is a little strange, but beats mud any day of the week! Not good if the kids want to ride bikes thru the CG though.

We camped in a cabin at Roundtop campground last year. It was our first time in a cabin, as all the boys came and the HTT is too small. Anyway, the cabin was great, the campground was nice and clean, and the staff was friendly. I thought it was inexpensive as well.

So, here's one recommendation for Roundtop.

We have stayed at Gettysburg KOA, Gettysburg CG and Artilary Ridge. All were really nice places to stay. The KOA has alot of trees. That might be an advantage in August. Gettysburg CG is right on a creek which is really nice. Also has plenty of shaded sites. Artillary Ridge has tours on Horse back of the battlefields. That was alot of fun. You do not have to stay at the CG to take the tours, but you do have to make reservations. If you have your own horse, they even have stables you can rent. The KOA and Gettysburg have nice cabins from what I could see. I did not pay attention if Artillary Ridge had cabins or not. I think they have a few by the stables. Good luck in your search.
