Does anyone know if a Honda EU3000 generator will run the a/c in a 2003 Coachmen 24’ Spirit of America (13,500BTU)? I would like to be able to run the a/c, a small color TV, and a couple of lights (not the microwave). I would rather go with one generator over the two 2000 watt models. The Honda dealer thinks the EU3000 will work out for me. I have asked my camping friends and family and was told to get a 5000 watt generator. I think that’s overkill and I really don’t want to lug something around that big.

It should work fine but remember-it is heavy.

I am interested to know why you prefer the 3000 over the two 2000's. We are about to buy and can't quite make up our minds. Thanks

One thing to remember...one EU3000i weighs ~ 150 lbs (but you can buy a set of wheels for it) and one EU2000i weighs ~ 46 lbs...also another thing to consider is in most cases if you are not going to be using the AC and you have two EU2000i's you can only take one along...

Us? We went with the 2 EU2000i's but now have a fiver with a built-in genny...

I prefer the 3000 over the two 2000 due to the longer run time per thankful of gas. The 3000 goes 7.2 hrs at rated and 20 hrs at ¼ load. The 2000 only goes 4 hrs at rated and 15 at ¼ load. The run time concern is about the a/c going off after 4hrs. The 3000 is also a tad bit quieter than the 2000 not much but when it comes to generator noise every DB counts (2000 = 59/53 –- 3000 58/49). The weight is not an issue as the trailer will not be moving often, and there are a few of us to lift it if need be.

Im sure it will cause one EU2000i runs our 13500 btu AC. We have to shut the AC off a few minutes if we use the microwave. A EU3000i should run them both at once.

The EU3000 is quieter, longer run time, battery start
