I have just completed my first trip on a used Alfa that I purchased. While on the trip the mechanics for the large slide out failed and I had to push the slide out in manually. I just called my local dealer (not an Alfa dealer) and they weren't sure how to get the part because Alfa went out of business.
The following is my exact situation:
- I am supposed to be at a convention July 3rd (should I cancel)?
- I bought a 3 year warranty for about $10,000. Would this be covered?
Thanks for any input anyone can provide!

Alfa Motorhome Owners Data Base good place to start. Also FMCA and chapter search for the owners club. They can help and do not get too excited as most of the components used in motorhomes are from third party venders and 99.9% are available aftermarket.
Join the owners club. Valuable source of information.
Contact the warranty company and comply to each condition and it may be covered.

Find your warranty paperwork, if its a third party (it should be) then it should be covered. Also find out what kind of slideout hardware you have, if the coach is under a year old the slideout hardware maker should cover it, but you may have to pay something.
Don't take your organs to heaven. Heaven knows we need them here.

You can find lots of information about your Alfa, and where to get parts, at the Yahoo Message Boards below:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/SeeYaDP/
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/alfaseeya/
Also, there are three RV repair companies that specialize in Alfas, and one of them might have the slide motor (or other part) that you need. They are Charlie's RV Service in Sunset, UT; Central Valley RV Repair in Lodi, CA; and Dick Albritton in LA. Their contact information is on the Yahoo message boards.
What year Alfa did you purchase? If it was an '02 through '05 (maybe even '06), they came with a 5-year extended warranty provided by Alfa. These warranties are transferrable for a $75 fee. We did not know this when we bought our 05 Alfa 2 years ago, and we also purchased an extended warranty through our purchasing dealer (not an Alfa dealer). When we found out about the transferrable warranty with Western General, we cancelled our extended warranty that we had purchased, and got most of the money back for it.
Overall, we love our Alfa. Best of luck with yours,
Patty

Most extended warranties are issued by third parties. If your warranty is from a third party, then you may be in luck. See who the company is. If it was issued by Alfa then you are out of luck. Slide outs and components are outsourced from different companies. A good reputable MH service company should be able to recognize who the mfg of the slide out is and obtain parts thru them.
The dealer that sold you the warranty is certainly obligated to make the repairs. If he continues to give you the run around then call your extended warraty provider and ask them who they recommend to work on your coach. Good Luck.

I think Alfa uses the same power gear products that Fleetwood uses for their slides. Many builders use it. Also did you see if by chance you blew a fuse.

A few things to check -
- Is the fuse blown ? Dont know where is is ? Welcome to the wonderful world of getting to know your coach ! Look for a wiring diagram in your owners manual. Also pull the fuse box covers and look for labels.
- There will be a adjustment box hidden somewhere maybe under the sink, bathroom, some weird place. it is the controller box. You may be able to tinker with that to get the slide to move
- Make sure you are connected to shore power.. many slides just wont move under battery power
- Try 'helping' the slide motor, push or pull on the slide as the motor works. But be careful not to crack or bend the bodywork.

Thanks for the quick reply's. I am pretty sure it is a 3rd party warranty. I will check the fuse box to see if that is it but it does make noise when I hit the button to bring it in. I don't know much about fuses but I'm sure I will get a quick education on it. The service departments I speak with sure aren't the same as a car service dept. Patience is an understatement!

If it is Power Gear they are prone to breaking the 1/4" bolts in the shaft, could be as simple as putting in a new bolt.

It makes a loud sound when I hit the switch and ultimately sounds like the power gear is messes up. I will check it immediately. Thx
