I have a drawer which has about 40 pounds of pennies. When my kids hit me up for money, I tell 'em to take what they need!

They are copper-tinted zinc.

for the person who said to use the self checkout...I do that all of the time!! My dad gave me a set of coin roller counter things that I put my change in every day. The pennies, I empty into my pocket and hope to go through some or all of them through the course of the day...the cylinders have a counter on the side so I can see if I have 17 or 45. If there is no one in line behind me at the self checkout, I put them in...one after the other....
