Anyone set up an Equinox Sport and determined the fuse to pull to turn off odometer. Recently purchased and have set up with Blue Ox base plate, tow bar and Brake buddy. Want to keep battery connected to power Brake Buddy.

Your owners manual should have this information under the dinghy towing section. My Chevy Cobalt owners manual is very clear on which fuse I have to pull.

Book says to disconnect battery to save power - nothing about odometer. Just want to avoid this

Did you ever get an answer to the battery problem? I am looking at a equinox sport and don't want to disconnect the battery.

Hi,

Question: What model year Equinox's are you discussing? My understanding is that since 2007 the Equinox is NOT flat-towable. Model year 2006 and older 4WD models were, I thought. The Equinox is a joint venture with Suzuki and was the same basic vehicle as the Suzuki XL-7. The Suzuki XL-7's were no longer flat-towable beginning in model year 2007. The entire vehicle, including the engine/drive train was changed from 2006 to 2007 and became more GM...less Suzuki.

Or am I mistaken?

I am talking about a 2008 Equinox Sport. I think the Sport is the only one that can be towed.

Does the owner's manual say that these can be flat-towed? I know the pre-2007 model year XL-7 Suzuki's had a section that clearly detailed the way in which the vehicles could be towed.

If the owner's manual doesn't specify "Recreational Towing" instructions, I'd proceed very cautiously before committing to purchase. You could easily void your drivetrain warranty if the manufacturer doesn't condone the method of towing.

I'm not saying the Equinox Sport isn't towable, but if it's based on the XL-7 I'd be very surprised if it was. If it's based on the Grand Vitara, then I think it's still towable, but only with certain drive trains (4WD, I think).

On edit: I checked the Dinghy Towing Guide here for 2008 and didn't see the Equinox listed.

It's based on the GM 3.6 V6 and the new 6 speed transmission that is towable. It is only the Equinox SPORT that is towable.

Remove the batt1 fuse from the engine compartment fuse block and you should be fine.

Where did you find this information? Is it in the owners manual?
