Hi , we were going out west this summer , but motherinlaws cancer has thrown us a curve for that trip. We would like to maybe travel and see the smokie mountains and stay somewhere on the north carolina side of them . Does anyone recomend a nice campground in that area . Wifi or sprint service would be nice , campfires a must , pool or swimable creek/river would be nice . must be able to axcept our 05 39s providence with 3 slides . Thanx for the help . Dan p/s the darn fuel will the highest cost of the trip , ouchhhhhhhh
We just returned from Smokemont in the National Park last week; no hook-ups, but beautiful. There is a great KOA in Cherokee or you could check out Yogi in the Smokies. Shady, on the river, swimming pool, kids activities, great bathhouse, fire rings, picnic tables, large store, lots of upgrades. It has improved greatly since we last saw it, but is a bit pricey. There are web sites for both campgrounds. Not sure about the cable situation. This was our first trip there with the TT and we decided to go back to nature the first time, but if we go back with the GC's it's definitely with Yogi. None of these CG's are at a very high elevation so they're not too hard to access.
We usually stay at Cherokee KOA. Has a pool (indoor and outdoor), river, sites big enough, and (I believe) wifi service. Lots of activities (and a shuttle to the casino). Little pricey, but nice.
We just returned from a few weeks on the road. Spent one week in Smokemont and it was about 50% full or maybe less. I've never seen it that quiet. After speaking to a lot of people there it seems that tourism is down greatly over last year.
