Here is another data point.
Just having this done.
I live in SF Bay Area. Labor rate from local RV shop and Camping World are both $120 hr.

Purchased Demco Aluminator Towbar (safety chains included), Demco Base Plate, 4 Wire electrical cord and cover for $960 (free shipping, no tax, purchased from RVEXIT on ebay (lots of refs on the forums)).

RV shop will charge 3 hrs to intall base plate and brake lighting in 05 CRV.

SMI Duo brake system $1425 installed in 05 CRV including labor and running indicator light up to dash.

So it will be around $2800 to buy all new and have the shop do the work at $120/hr.

We just had our Saturn set up. Baseplate and wiring $700 including labor, we already had a Blue OX bar kit and a Brake Buddy, you can look the prices up on the websites as there is no installation cost.

Considering using a toad for an extensive coast to coast trip in the future. I have been looking at different set up but am a little confused.

What would you expect to pay for a total toad hook-up, not including the vehicle?

Thanks

For a top of the line Blue Ox/Roadmaster/SMI, etc setup, figure about $2000.00 for tow bar, baseplate, brakes and lights/wiring. Parts only. Installation is a least a full day. DIY or pay big.

I paid $2500 for custom plates, Falcon 2 tow bar and the US Gear plus install/wiring. Rush job too as we were leaving on a trip.

Worth every penny even if I could have done some or more myself.
