68Monaco, cork on the walls and ceiling? Does it lay nice around the curve of the ceiling? I had thought of cork for the floor, but didn't think it would work on the walls and ceiling. Do you have a pic of yours? Please show the results! Thanks Bella
The reason for the carpet (or some other flexible wall/ceiling cover) is that the trailer is made of molded fiberglass with the gelcoat outside and rough fiberglass inside. The surfaces are curved (for external aerodynamics) so a flexible material is needed.
The earlier (pre-88 or so) trailers had a foam called Ensolite, but the manf quit making it.
The carpet material currently used in Scamp (and I presume likewise for Casita) is synthetic stuf from the marine world and very little sticks to it. Lots of FG TT owners have pets. Folks do not complain about allergies and the carpet. Twenty years worth of carpeted fiberglass trailers out there...
Some trailers made by UHaul, Burro, etc., are double-shelled so there is gelcoat inside and out.
Bella,
When I redid our Scamp, I had to replace some of the Ensolite under the seats. I used the thick shelf liner from Home Depot. It is about 1/8 thick foam, and came in rolls 2' wide and 8 or 10' long. I used 3M Spray Adhesive to mount it.
If that does not work for you, take a look at the floor runners that come on a roll. Or maybe you can look at vinyl that is used to make boat seats. What ever you come up with, good luck!

Thanks Pete for the explanation. I thought I knew why but wasn't sure that was the reason.
mcoonan, Great idea! I hadn't thought of that. I am also going to check with a custom car restorer and see what ideas he can come up with. I am wondering if this is a project I want to tackle. I just know I want to get rid of the blue shaggy stuff............. Hopefully I can find just the right finish no matter which way I go. Again, Thanks for the idea of the shelf liner. Bella
