We have a single roof A/C. When we change it out, we are planning to go with a 15,000 btu. The cord to the MH is a 30amp ( at least that is the kink of plug that is on it.)
Will 30amps run the bigger unit?

yep. the 30 is for total trailer. the A/c will draw under 20 under hard loads. so just be a bit gentle with the micro, coffee maker etc. our last two trailers were 30 amp 15,000btu and as long as shorw power stayed above 108 volts never had a problem. Good luck

I just got my TT and it has a coleman mach 15k btu. 30 amps will run it. I did test it out and will not run on 15 house amps or my honda 2000. I do have a second honda so I am sure they will run the ac but have been too lazy to open the box for the second generator to test them out.
Just yesterday I installed a 30 amp outlet on side of home b/s getting things setup for my first trip out it was 95 degrees out and it was hot inside trailer. From now on we will be getting ready for camping inside an air conditioned TT

I've gotta put my 2cents in.
Don't buy a Carrier 15,000.
I have one that will not cool my 30 footer on a 90 degree day. Carrier claims that it is cooling properly. If I had to rate it I'd say 12,000 btu output compared to Dometic or Coleman units I've had in the past. That's my advice, take it or leave it!

Oh, Wow. That is one that we had thought about. Any suggestions on which one would be best. We're talking old MH. Not the best insulation I know.
The RV Dr will be here Friday morning. There is a possibility it is the inverter/charger electric panel thing. I'm ready for Friday, but that is the soonest he can come. He has done work on our TTs in the past, and I trust him a little more than the dealership places. My old MH would not be very high on their priority list. ( and his overhead is less )

Hi, COLEMAN AND DUO-THERM ARE BOTH VG, I had a DuoTherm Penguin for 22 years on a 31ft Alumalite, it did the job (13.5). According to the RV dealer I just bought from, Coleman has the edge right now but if I had ordered I would have gone with Duotherm Penguin (Low Profile) AC at 15K. P.S. If you do some cold weather camping, get the heat strip in the AC, about a $60 upgrade but allows you to save Propane for heat. Costs more after to add on. Good enough if above freezing. Wanderer

Quote-Don't buy a Carrier 15,000.
My 15K Carrier does just fine on a 32' fiver. Have you used different A/C units on the same rig to verify that the Carrier was not functioning as designed? Some have reported tht they have found disconncted ducts and ducts that were not sealed properly. Improper sealing allows the cold air return to mix with hot air, thus decreasing efficiency.

We have two 13,500 Penguin heat pumps, I can run both of them at the same time off a 30 amp circuit with no trouble. I don't have an electrical managment system either. So far, if the service is not defective, we haven't blown a breaker, but do have to watch for low voltage especially on older circuits. Then I get out the Autoformer.
