when are you thinking of going on TOW? we're in dawson city now and plan to go this friday (weather permitting).
we have a beaver also and just wondering how that little ferry would be with our long wheel base?
It's no problem even for motorcoaches - long wheelbase and low clearance. Some RVs with huge overhangs have issues at very low water levels.

Notlost we won't be leaving Whitehorse for the TOW or not until the 2nd week in July or so. The fellow I spoke to said the ferries are absolutely no problem. I asked him specifically as we're a little low at ride height. He did say you offload onto gravel sometimes but it all just works fine.
I'll be interested in hearing about your experience.

We've done it several times. Car, truck camper with trailer, motor home and even done it several times on a snowmobile. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Having said that, if your friend is really that uptight about it, do it on the way home, Chicken to Dawson. That way you'll have the inside going over the hill above the Walker Fork. In my opinion that is the only part that tends to really get your attention. Do it and have fun, its really spectacular!

We did the TOW a few weeks ago, 3rd day that the ferry was back in operation. It was a snap. We made it a 2 day trip. Depends on what you are used to. Certainly no worse than mountain roads in the lower 48. An interstate compared to what the buses of Denali travel on. Just drive within your safe skill level & your vehicles capabilities & all will be easy.

If you're nervous about the TOTW highway and have some schedule flexibility, here's the way we did it. We went west to east staying overnight in Chicken. Since the border crossing station at Poker Creek doesn't open until 8 a.m., there is little chance of any oncoming traffic before that hour. We got on the road from Chicken about 5 a.m. (remember, there'll be daylight in the summer) and made our way east, getting to the border about 7:40 a.m. That included a few sightseeing stops along the way. No traffic, no stress. This was in 2006. Don't know if schedules have changed since that time or not.

Hi all from North Pole, AK! TOW is fine, just over it Thursday. we went to Eagle,AK- THAT road would count as narrow -fine in our 'B' -would NOT suggest towing on it-stayed at BLM CG in Eagle, out the next day -did wait until tour busses had arrived for the day! Did get a flat (it was Friday the 13th) somewhere around Chicken-found it soft when we got to Tok, easy repair at Northern Energy. Free use of wash bay there, too, with gas fill up to get rid of all the dust from those dry roads! ST
