krazy... I have a ton of links if you are undecided and really want to do some research. There's nothing like knowing up front as much as possible about what you're buying.

I think the overwhelming advantage to an inverter genset is the Eco (variable) throttle feature. Your basic contractor generators run at FULL BORE all the time, and that's loud. A Honda or eq will run at its lowest possible rpm (and noise) necessary to meet the load. That's a very nice feature and something worth paying for. As previously mentioned, low quality can be a long bitter pill, and, as one fella put it "I'm not rich enough to afford poor quality."

Keith. I was just looking at the Yamaha site. I will likely get the 2400is. My A/C is a 13.5 so If I ever find myself in a rare situation where I needed to run the A/C, I 'll just turn everything off including the fridge to propane, and run the A/C to cool down the trailer.

I wonder why the 2400is to the 3000seb is almost twice the cost? Can it really cost a grand more to make 600 more watts? That's price gouging. Anyway, I was going to spend $600 for the Craftsman, so what's an extra $200 for the 2400is. Cabelas is offering free shipping, and I have nearly $300 in points, so I'm placing the order now. Thanks for all the info.

krazymatt - IIRC the 3,000seb has a boost feature to compensate for surges when high draw items fire up. I think it might also have electric start. That is more than likely a good chunk of the price increase.

Loud generator who cares. I have been to Iraq and our electricity is supplied from several 100kw generators. Talk about loud but after a few days you will get used to it. I bought a 5500 craftsman not the most expensive one but it serves my purpose. Don't forget I live off a military paycheck.

I too have been to Iraq. I bought a TT because I was done with tents and have a quiet generator because I was done with that too.
