Does anyone know of a campground on the actual lake in Lake George? We usually stay at Rogers Rock campground, but this year would like to get closer to lake george village. Only problem is I still want to be on the lake. Not lakefront mind you, but I want to be able to get to the lake from the campground not have to drive to it. Everything I found so far near the village is not on the lake.
hearthstone state park just above the village on rt 9n,campsites on both sides of rt 9n lower half is on the lake mostly for tenters dont think a rv will fit down there on the water, upper portion is for rvs across the road for larger rvs, theres another state park at the end of the lake over looking the beach and steam boat docks cant think of what the name is at the moment maybe ft george as there used to be a small british stone fort named ft george there in the 1700s not much left of it now.its not on the water but its a short walk to the village, beach, docks ,the upper one is a longer walk to the village.

We go to Hearthstone Point State Park for week of tent camping every year. I take the boat and spend several days out on the lake. They have campsites for trailers and motor homes. Its about 5 minutes from Lake George Village. You can leave the boat in the water in front of the campground at no cost.

Mohawk campground is a little outside the village, but has swimming beach and all on it's property otherwise a couple of the state parks are right on the lake.
