Me: Under warranty for 13 more months (and or 50k miles). I just know there will be incidentals besides the $100.00 deductible

Mine has been fine. My dad just had his turbo replaced due to sticking vanes and the truck has been runnning perfect ever since. I believe this is a common problem, especially if your truck sits too much or is only driven on short trips where the engine doesn't have an opportunity to reach optimal operating temperature. As long as you are under the 100k diesel engine warranty it will only cost the $100.00 deductible.

Rust or Soot?

If soot, make sure they clean the egr system and intake as well.

Glad to hear it was as expected. Let us know the final outcome.

A tech told me last year to take it off the vehicle and beat it with a mallot. That usually frees them up, then run it hard on occasion and slack off on the idle time. Kits(for PTO's) are availible to bump up the idle but they really down the fuel. Catch 22!..........CV

Well here's the good and the bad;
Ford replaced the turbo under warranty, also cleaned the EGR.
The tech told me my EGR was not bad but he cleaned it anyway as it was apart. The turbo had rust and a small amount of soot. The replacement turbo was a remanufactured unit. All the work was done under warranty and I was only charged the $100 deductible.

Now for the bad;
The truck ran good for about 100 miles and started doing the same thing. When applying moderate throttle the coughing sound in the air cleaner followed by a buck then the trans would down shift and she'd take off.

Dropped her off at the dealer last night will call when open.
Any ideas, any one??????

Make sure they keep the first job ticket open so you don't get charged another deductible fee.....been there done that.

My turbo went out at about 81k, and took 3 remans. to get a good one. One never made it off the dealers lot. Now 160k and all ok.

Spoke to the dealer yesterday morning about 15 minutes after they opened. Already had truck inside and was looking at it based on the note I left with the keys. Later in the day I was told the EGR valve was bad and a new one was being installed. The tech had cleaned the original EGR and said it was not very dirty. Anyway I should get her back today and will see.
BTW; could it have been the EGR all along?

Had the truck back for a week or so now, the EGR replacement solved the problem. Dealer handled it on the 1st work order so I only paid one deductible. The truck seems to run better than ever with a slight increase in fuel economy. If ever in Logan Ohio and need a dealer I would recommend "Tansky Ford"

BTY I researched buying and extended warranty sold and backed up by Ford. The cost of the warranty is very close to what this repair would have cost out side of the warranty. There is a thread running on "TheDieselStop.com" titled Ford 200k plan with a lot of info. May be useful to any of you who are still in warranty as you can buy the extended warranty if you want.
