I just picked up an enclosed trailer for the jeep, and just stuff in general. Taking the whole thing out this weekend. It's a 24' 10,000 gvw. I'll never come close to that with just the jeep inside, or at least I hope so. Plan on hitting the scales on the way out to where I'm going.
Just wondering who else hauls one, and any changes you've made. I'm looking for a large awning for the side of it.
We pull a 14' enclosed. Just use a 21" hitch extension and w/d hitch. No problems. BTY it a 7K and we get close to that at times. Good luck with the new "tote".

I pull that exact size and gvw trailer made by Classic Manufacturing. I haul my Corvette to shows. I have not weighed the pair but I estimate I'm at about 22K lbs. That would be 14K for the truck/camper and 8K for the trailer with car and tools. That is based on the truck/camper having been weighed and knowing the trailer and car weights. At some point I will weight the combo to get the tongue weight.
The truck has Airlift Superduty Airbags, Timbrens and extended overload bumpstops. I use the Torklift Superhitch with a 42" extension and a Reese weight distributing hitch setup. I hardly know the trailer is back there other than having to pull harder going up hill. No sway, no jerking, no bounce... I have to keep checking to make sure it's still there. The mileage also drops about 1 mpg.

Don't know about towing with a TC, but I installed two 12' awnings on mine----one on each side so I could keep the Sportsters dry, too.......$1,350 for two with tax, and I saved the dealer's $850 installation charges! A two-man install for sure, but definitely a D-I-Y if you're at all handy.

I changed out the trailer brakes from electric drum to electric over hydraulic disc brakes. I haul cars and cycles for myself as well as others.
I also added in a 2nd breakaway switch and battery for redundancy.

I have an 8.5X16 enclosed trailer for quads etc. I use a 41" extesion and W.D Bars and it tows like a dream. For whatever reason, and I have been working a lot on it the truck and camper haul better with the trailer or boat attached than just the truck and camper.

Take a look at your rear springs with just the camper versus with the camper and trailer. On mine, with the stock springs, with just the camper, the main springs didn't sag quite enough to get the frame to sit down tight on the overloads, so it rocked a bit more than I liked. With the trailer hooked up, the tongue put just enough additional weight on the main springs to sag them so the frame rested down onto the overload springs and then it rode more solid and flat in the curves. Ford builds these trucks with not quite enough arc in the overload leafs to make them contact the frame bumpers unless very heavily loaded.
I haul a 7x16 for my quad and trail bike. I built storage compartments for extra water, gas, riding gear and camping gear like the screen tent which I normally would not take without the trailer. Works very well.
Since this picture I have added my float tube on the left wall and barriers to hold the stuff on the shelves. I also finished and insulated the ceiling.
