Along with all of the above reasons, the wife is able to do her crafts as we travel. She sits at the dining table a lot of the time with her scrap booking materials or some other project which she works on while enjoying the view.
This did make me find out what the speed limit is. It is not what is posted on the sign. It is not the speed that you, the driver, feel comfortable with. It has nothing to do with what the people with the blue and red blinking lights think it is. It is the speed at which you can balance the scissors on the slick dinnette table without it sliding! If she has to grab for it to catch it before it slides onto the floor, YOU ARE SPEEDING!

No, that's your math.
Mine is 1 wife and 2 14 year old daughters which gives me 3 potty stops per hour without the MH.
Thanks.. I forgot that formula.. Yes, that applies too
In fact.. It may be the stronger argument !!!
Last trip I made from Lexington, KY to Orlando, FL by myself: 11 hours. Last trip I made from Lexington, KY to Orlando, FL with wife, daughter and one of her girlfriends: 16 1/2 hours.
The formula is the one constant of the universe. The more females that travel with you the greater the necessity to have a motor home!!!

I have the class A and my dad has the 5th wheel. He is pulling it with a late model Dodge 2500 Cummins. With a diesel that close in front you can't hear yourself think or the cell phone for that matter. I wanted a more peacefull ride and went with the class A.
1. A big diesel truck wouldn't fit in my garage and I didn't want to leave it in my driveway.
2. We actually couldn't find the right truck anywhere and the truck dealers around here (TX...I know...hard to believe) were less than helpful.
3. Decided if we bought a Class A, the cats could always come with us when traveling and we wouldn't have to arrange for their care...and they would travel better in a MH than a car/truck.
4. Everyone would be in a better mood if we traveled in a MH vs in a truck.
5. Not as many stops since the bathroom is right there.
6. MH roomier than traveling in a truck.
7. Husband was more comfortable driving a MH vs. pulling a 5er or tt.
8. MH easier to back up and get into campsites (?) for us...although I'm sure once you get used to your rig it's all relative.
Actually, the 5th wheel was actually roomier than MH that we purchased, but we bit the bullet and went with the Class A because of the above mentioned.
Why I love my Class A (sounds like a term paper...lol!):
1) With 3 daugthers and my DW I only have to stop when I have to use the bathroom, and I can stop anywhere to use my bathroom.
2) My DW can get me a snack without the necessity to stop.
3) We can stop pretty much anywhere and take a rest.
4) The fuel capacity of 180 gallons means I rarely have to look for a "gas" station that sells diesel on any given trip. I can fill up when I choose and at a better price than on the road usually.
5) The fresh water, and holding tank capacities (160 fresh water, 100 gray, and 60 black) enables me to go a long, long time without refilling, or dumping.
6) Pull into a campground, take 2 minutes to level, shut the engine off and start living, or sleeping as the case may be. Really nice at night, or in bad weather.
7) Quieter with engine in the rear!
8) Had a blowout on I-10 a month ago...pulled to the shoulder. Turned on the Generator to run roof A/C, cranked up the satellite dish and watched the Pistons/Cavaliers game, DW made up a plate of cold cuts, while waiting for Good Sam ERS to arrive with replacement tire.
9) Massive storage areas
I could go on and keep repeating what so many have said here. There really is no right and wrong, otherwise all we would see would be Class A's moving down the highway. Everyone has different needs and expectations and that is reflected by the large diversity of RV options available to us from Tear Drop Trailers, to popup tent trailers, to travel trailers, to 5th wheels, to class B's, class C's, Super C's, class A's, and finally Buses. My son recently sold his 40' 5th wheel, which I called the rolling condominium....it was spectacular, and bought a 38' Fleetwood Discovery diesel pusher with 4 slides...now his wife wants to go out every other weekend! With the 5th wheel he had to talk her into going out every 3 months! Now she is the one organizing the weekend jaunts for the entire extended family (9 RV's....5 class A's, 2 class C's, and 2 TT's).

I'm sure that my pickup is quieter than my class A (gas) was, not to mention a LOT less heat from the engine.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!
I'm just curious, why you chose a Class A over a travel trailer or 5th wheel.
I have a class A, but just wonder if a 5th wheel would be cheaper to operate (tow) then a class A, what with gas at $4.00 a gallon. Thanks
I thought I would bring this one back for you.
Someday we may own a Class A, but you need to know in most all casses a Fifth Wheel is much cheaper to own and operate than a Class A.
I had notice that many of the posters had said that they like to pull into a camp ground or RV Resort and not even leave their coach...just pull into their site push a button for the auto jacks and sit back and relax.
? Do you let your generator run the whole time ? You never plug into shore power?
How about the towed vehicle? Pull through site..ok. But how do you back it in to your site.....I know it is raining and all.
How about all you guys that say bathroom breaks.....never need to stop because you have the bathroom inside with you.
As the driver, how do you use it while in motion?? Do you switch seats while driving at 70mph down the highway? Sounds fun.
What do your PETS think about you not having bathroom breaks? Cats, birds...OK. How about dogs??
I can sit and drive for 1,000 of miles without a break, good for you that can.
When I get to the Sunny Florida welcome center I like to go in and get some free organe juice.
I need my breaks, love them and like to walk and stretch, my back needs a break about every 2 1/2 hours.
OK, you like to be able to pull into a rest area without getting out. (POINT) But that is why I pull into a rest area...TO GET OUT.
What about that food you like to eat while driving. We can do the same in our truck without ever stopping...cold drinks, snacks, PBJ and much more.
Here is one of my main reasons that I would like a Class A over a fifth Wheel, Aqua Hot !
Second would be the outside storage.
I would lose living space and inside storage if I went with anything less than a 45 footer Class A.
