Hi All!!! I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks and decided to join in!!!
I've seen some real great posts on upgrades and hope I can lend a few after I finally get out there!!!!
Just purchased a 2007 viking 2170 legend off a dealer who had it on his lot since last year. Got it below nada price, so I went for it.
Needed to be cleaned a bit but it is new.......
Do we like Viking on this site???????
After my searches I see Fleetwood is a favorite but the base prices seemed a bit high for me. With all the options I have and the size of this camper (16ft closed) I felt the price couldn't be beat.
Does not have the shower or A/C option.....but does have all others.
I do have some questions but I'll start putting them in different posts. Just wanted to start by saying Hi to Everyone!!

we have a viking 2485st for the next 5 days, but we are trading for a surveyor 304le. we love it and hate to see it go, but with a 3 years old sleep tosser and a 9 month old starting to crawl, we wanted to go bigger. ours had a/c and everything else i think. no indoor shower, but it did have an outdoor one, but we never used it. we always camp at a CG with showers and such. if you need to know anything about them, just shoot me a pm and i will help where i can.....later and congrats!!!!

Hello DViking. We have a Clipper which is the same as a Viking. We love our camper and so far have had no problems with quality or service from our dealer. Hope you have the same fortune with yours. Coachmen builds a good quality trailer for their price range. As you said, Fleetwoods are nice but a bit pricey for us.
All the best. Keep coming back here as you'll find alot of answers to your questions.

We just bought a Viking (smaller than yours but a Viking nonetheless) and we have had no problems as of yet. The set up is pretty easy once you do it once or twice and with some playing around we learned how to work everything. We don't have AC (didn't need nor want it) summers in Canada don't get all that hot for more than two weeks!
Good luck and have a great time!

We had two Vikings, the last one a 24 footer. We had problems with the bed slides on both of them and with the mechanism to raise the top on one. When we got rid of the last one we were very happy to see it go.
But we stressed those campers out, you can look at our states map and see how much those were pulled around. I think we just expected too much from them and if you are doing less intense camping, an occasional weekend and so on, that you will be fine with your Viking. I just don't think they are built to be hauled 6000 miles and lived in for 21 days at a time by 4 people.

Hi,
We've have a 1999 Viking 1906 since 2001, have had few problems with it. Though someone mentioned towing 6000 miles and living in it for 21 days, we've done that several summers now and no serious problems. Very weather proof, we can set up in about 10 minutes we've done it so often. We got ours as a new, old stock model at a very good price. It is showing some wear and tear but considering the miles and nights used, has held up well. Only "early" problem was that the fit of the clear window plastic to the canvas seemed sloppy, both window plastics have begun pulling away from the zipper, so we don't mess with them anymore. Tow with a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan with no trouble.

I had 34 foot travel trailer on a seasonal site. I bought a 1997 Viking 2170 Legend to travel with. We had a great time in it. We never had a problem with it. One thing I did with mine was to put a tarp over it when it was set up. This kept the pine pitch a dirt off it.

We bought a nice used Viking 2 yrs. ago with a slide out, shower/toilet and we love it. Last summer we bought an AC unit and installed it & that is a huge improvement in the heat of the summer. My only complaint is that we never are able to camp enough as we would like in the summer!! We do enjoy camping in the fall...and not on holidays.
