I have never felt ashamed of our pup. Even when we had our 84 Jayco pop up parked right next to a Class A worth over a million dollars, I was talking to the owner and the campground owner when I found this out. He did not look down his nose at my family at all. On other occasions though I have been looked down at for camping in a pop up with our kids, even though we have a new one now and our kids are well behaved. The way I look at it is if someone does not like what I am camping in that would be their problem. We are out having fun and trying to enjoy ourselves.

A decade and a half ago, I wouldn’t call it ‘’ashamed’’ but maybe ‘’inadequate’’ instead. We had a 1965 Suburban and a 17 foot ‘’egg’’ travel trailer of the same vintage. It usually got nice comments since it made a nice classic package.
We’re following my aunt and uncle and their 40’ 5’er to an RV resort on the Oregon coast. We all pull in and get settled. They with their behemoth, us with the little old TT.
So… there we sit, sandwiched in between luxury class A’s and large 5th wheels. I think I felt the silliest when my uncle was done hooking up his rig to the utilities, which was water, sewer, TV cable, telephone line, and a garden hose sized electric cord. I walked to mine, and hooked up my water hose and pathetic little #12 extension cord. There was no sewer, it had a Porta Potti. The single galley sink was an 8-gallon tank, emptied with a garden hose. I had to use adaptors to go from 50, to 30, then down to a 20 amp connection. The big ball of adaptors on the end of that itty-bitty electric cord was the size of my fist. (There was no standard outlet on that post)
NOW, it’s pretty much the reverse. We rolled into Wallowa Lake State Park a couple of Memorial Days ago. Everyone had tents, PUP’s, small TT’s, the occasion class C and 25 foot 5er’s. I said that when we get parked and Willie Nelson or an equivalent celebrity status person thereof doesn’t walk out of the door, people are going to be grossly disappointed. Talk about open mouthed stares!! You’d think we were taxiing along in the space shuttle.
We get parked, and I had to adapt the 50 amp plug down to a 20. I saw a guy shake his head and walk away when I ran out the power awning.

All I can say is TT is mine, house is not in foreclosure, bills are paid, and I can still afford the fuel to go camping with friends and family, so I will have fun with or with-out those who have their noses in the air. Oh and by the way I LOVE MY TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!
tThere are many high end RV parks where you won't get past the (24 hours) guard station if you are not in a huge DP MH. Now that's fine with us as it's a big RVing world out there and campgrounds that will fit the bill for all of us. Look at some of the ads in the MH mags. and you will find some RV parks offer catered meals wheeled to your MH and served to you. And you wonder why the old saying goes I'll go with you (she sez) but I don't cook). Next year they will get rid of the RV and get a yacht. Sorry that is a slam for just a few NH people. But it is how some travel. Many people, face it are rich.
There is room for all of us to enjoy this lifestyle... We can camp side by side if we remember it is the lifestyle not how we live it. It is just like while traveling down the road you can see 5 star resorts or Motel 8 like places. It is the same with RV parks.
There are many fine RV parks which would love to have you and the general public stay in their park. And at these parks your well maintained RV will be welcomed. And if not, you do have a middle finger don't you. And then report them as an unfriendly RV park so the rest of us can avoid them.

HEY...I AM ONE OF THOSE NH PEOPLE. Although not an MH people. But my brother is an MH and NH person.
Getting back to the subject of the thread. Never thought about it one way or the other. There is always going to be someone with a better rig than mine. But I have noticed that most people/families that have classic, vintage or older rigs seem to have more fun. Be it a PUP, tent or whatever. And good for them.

The fact is... these people with the six figure MH's are financed to the hilt and are paying on the MH like they would in a mortgage.
Most have no liquid assets.
I own my old camper van and stick and brick house (which most of them had to sell to buy a depreciating commodity unlike my home which has increased in value 300% in the last 11 years)
No payments.
Snobs? yes... smart? no...
BUT! they are just doing what is right for them at this point in their life.
I find it ok that they keep to themsleves in rv resorts... I prefer to camp.
When I travel I fly and stay in high end hotels.
I have camped in a sleeping bag with no cover, tent camped, PUP Camped, and now camp in our 5'er. No matter how you camp, everyone should be able to experience it, and if they enjoy it, keep experiencing it. For some parking next to someone who has an older rig or no rig isn't for them. For me, I don't care who parks next to me as long as they are there to enjoy themselves, have a good time, and just relax and take it all in.
We love our truck and trailer and really don't care what others think.
We hate campgrounds, our little Bonzai thinks he is being punished when we put him on a leash.
We parked next to 2 40'+ Calss A's last fall, they had the absolute greatest people you could ever meet inside them.
I absolutley MARVEL that one would judge another by their RV.

We had an experience about three years ago, Booked two sites, one for us in our 37"TT and a friend who had a real nice pop up, got a call back from the manager of the CG, she stated no pop ups we're allowed in the section I booked the sites, area reserved for over 32' RV's . We went despite the situation, got to the Campground, the site we were assigned wouldn't fit our 37' TT! Owner came down and said " I can get it in their"! I said ok go ahead! He got behind the wheel and just as he was about to move the TV and TT, I said "I hope you know what your doing? You have $100K in your hands if you so much as scratch it you own it!", He got out from behind the wheel and said, I'll just give you a refund and you can be on your way, I said nope! you and I have a contract for two sites ( printed and signed confirmation) if you refuse to honor the contract, we have a legal dispute, which will involve the state PD , so what's it going to be? He moved us into the pull through sites, reserved for the elite crowd. As we were getting set up, he send the manager down with two coupons for a free weekend with an apology. The elite crowd actually was very nice, they stated it was a nice change to see two families with children enjoying Rving.
