Lost my Dad in Oct. 2004 from lung cancer, Grandmother died in Jan. 2005 from colon Ca. My MIL was diagnosed with breast CA 5 years ago. She has been on chemo pretty much since then, and is doing well right now. Surgery wasn't indicated since it was stage 4 when they found it. We are very lucky to still have her.

Good thoughts and prayers for all of those facing these illnesses.
I found out Wed that I may be facing breast cancer for the 3rd time. An ultrasound showed a 1 1/2" mass. I'm hoping to know more tomorrow.

I have lost 1 grandmother, 2 aunts, and 1 uncle due to cancer. My nephew got leukemia at age 9, had a bone marrow transplant, and is doing GREAT at the age of 25.
I recently had a buddy that was diagnosed with prostate cancer in his late 50's. My aunt now has ovarian cancer
Horrible disease.

rcr3racing wrote: How many people have been effected by this disease or knows someone who has had it?.... This thread was started on June 4th. At that time, if I had responded I would have said that I was fortunate enough to have had no close family member touched by cancer, but did lose a dear friend to lung cancer.
On June 26th my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent right hemicolectomy on June 30th. She is presently undergoing chemotherapy and even with some setbacks, we are hopeful and encouraged with her recovery/prognosis.
The second post in this thread by Sharrlan said: The family and friends of cancer patients suffer from cancer as much as the patient. -- A painful lesson I am learning again, moreso now because this time it's Mom.
