My trailer has two propane tanks on the front. The hoses from each one enter into a T-fitting/manifold type thing. My 1st question is does this device pull propane from both tanks simultaneously or does it empty one before the other?
2nd question: is there anyway to keep bugs, spiders etc. out of the propane system?

Thanks,
scott

You should pull from one tank and once empty it will then draw from the second tank as stated above.

If the manifold has a horizontal red or green bar across it then red is empty and green is full. You pull LP from one tank at a time. The knob on the manifold is for manually changing the tanks when one tank becomes empty. There's no automatic switch over with that manifold as many people believe. You have to turn the knob towards the tank that is full in order to to get gas from that tank. It's impossible for insects to get in a quick disconnect fitting. Dirt, mud or sand would be more of a problem.

If you have the automatic type manifold, when both tank valves are left open, the trailer will continue to get propane using the full tank, The tank pointer is still pointing at the empty tank. The flow is already coming from the new tank. There is an indicator showing the tank is empty for the tank pointed at. Pointing the tank pointer at the other tank should remove the red empty indicator. If not you forgot to fill that tank when you emptied it.

I preferred to only open the valve on my current tank. That way I new for sure when I emptied the first tank. I did not consider it a major hassle to go out and open the valve on the other tank. If you do not pay attention to the tanks often, it is possible to not notice the switch-over, and end up with two empty tanks.

This is correct. Open both and turn the lever to one tank or the other. When that tank empties (indicator on top will show red then), it will draw from the other tank, flip lever to other tank. If your s doesn't have a lever, it will not switch over automatically.

It won't matter if it has a lever or not. Manual and automatic both have a lever. Most important is knowing if it's manual or automatic. Your owner's manual paperwork should say.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll have to look when I get home to see if there is a lever although I don't think there is. Also, I know that there isn't any tank level indicators. I am thinking of buying the ones that screw on to the tank, any advice or opinions on them would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Scott

The question I had about the insects was more to do with the pilot tubes as I had to remove mine and blow out whatever was in it restricting the flow of gas.

A flea coller nearby will reduce the number of bugs that crawl into small spaces.
