Ok everyone! If no one else responds, it might just force the OPer to uses that elusive Search Button.

Oh shoot. OK!! I love my Weber Baby Q as well!! Can't beat that heavy cast iron grate for even temperature and retention and meat searing.

I had a Weber Q and loved it. Its a great grill....its just not as good as the 20" Char Broil charcoal grill I got from a local hardware store for less that 25$.

I find it so much easier to take care of and the food tastes better with charcoal IMO.

Another happy Q owner. Bought one for the deck at home and quit using the big grill on the patio. Got a second one for the MH.

The problem with the Q is that it simply doesnt get hot enough for me.

I use and like:

Broil King's Porta Chef Grill

This has a 20,000 btu burner compared to the Q's 12,000.

I think its a huge difference and I need the additional heat to get the sear I want on a steak. If heat is a concern for you the Q falls short.

Have fun!

I don't know how much more sear than black is possible. I also like a good sear, and my Q puts nice black grill marks and seals well, thats what makes it stand out from other small grills I've owned.

If I recall correctly I bought mine for about $120 on sale at camping world. This was several years back.

I just did an internet search on Google and it looks like they are running about $150 now.

I had a LP hose made for mine so I just hook it to the quick connect on the side of the trailer.

Another nice feature of this grill is the height of the dome. This allows me enough room for a couple of whole chickens.

I use a Weber Genesis Silver at home and this grill is the closest thing to the Genesis that I have found. I have tried way too many mini grills in finding the Porta Chef which I am finally satisfied with.

I'm glad that it works for you, and I know a bunch of folks just love the Q'. I am just pointing out that it doesn't work well for everyone and I am one of those folks.

When I toss 4 16oz Ribeyes on the grill, I need / Expect a quick sear. The Q just doesn't do it for me.

Have fun!

I have a Weber Q grill and bought it at www.cooking.com. When I hooked up the 20# propane tank, I experienced a problem with the grill not heating up. Called Weber and was told to slowly turn the tank on for 2-3 minutes. Did this for a while, sometimes it would heat up and other times it didn't. Now we turn the tank on 15 minutes or so before I use the grill and have had no problems. The only thing I don't like about the grill is not being able to cook with indirect heat. With the smaller grills I'm not sure this would be an option. I have grilled a 10-pound turkey with no problems.

Good luck with your grill choice and Happy RVing!

Susan
