Was this a private campground or a state campground? I don't think I have ever been asked that question here at a county or state campground.
I know I have heard of this happening in rv parks, and places that rent monthly.

Not known to be an issue. It happens. Most likely your the type of person who would not want to stay at that campground. I am sure your friends would not either if you could not.

not sure it is a problem, but it is becoming more of a issue at destination areas and with many new CG's being built...
you may not want to camp there but most I know of don't care as they are full most of the time any way... some are member or site owned with overnight spaces also...
ten years is the most common restriction, some require proof some don't...
there are other restrictions and different restrictions at some... like one says nothing under 24', and others that allow no PUP's or soft sides... class A's only were real popular...
in some areas land is to valuable for camping use and developers were buying CG's by the hand full with intentions of closing them... with the housing slow down it remains to be seen how this will work out for them... the developer that bought th CG near Boca has backed out of the deal last year after three years of formulating the deal...
this may in time be another squeeze on the average RV'er as state and county parks lack funding they need in many areas, and cost at destination areas rise and add restrictions... as we are forced to places farther away from vacation areas... maybe in time it will require a day trip to the beach, instead of a bike ride...
there is always the outside chance the economic pressures will turn things around, and they will compete for our business...
no matter what happens you can be sure camping will get much more costly for us, be it in SP's or private CG's...

Yep. There are some out there but wouldn't worry about it. They are few and far between. Besides with the gas situation bet many will be changing their exclusivest rules soon.

Our camping style wouldn't "fit in" at the "upper end" campgounds, but then they wouldn't "fit in" with us either.
It's great everyone has some place to go that they enjoy.

This happened to us while making reservations in 2006 for Port Aransas,Texas. We have a 2005 trailmanor (hard side when set up ) just over a year old at the time,They could not get the concept how it worked and I guess they thought it was a pop up but really is more like a hi-lo. they also asked how long .We replied 33ft.but to no avail. We just called up Pioneer rv park and went there and had a gret time. 4 and 1/2 year old daughter stills remembers that vacation.

I now have a 2007 TT, but I would not want to stay at a CG like that. RV's are very expensive and last many years and to screen out those that may not have the money for a new one or bought it many years ago and took good care of it is wrong. Last year I sold my 1986 to get the 2007.

You shouldn't have any problem with state parks, COE and NFS CGs and other public CGs. A FEW private CGs do this, but most don't. Try a different CG.

Guess we would not be staying if our camper fell in the age bracket..we are on our 4th summer with our camper and someone told me last week they thought it was brand new...we try very hard to take care of our purchases...dh boat is 1989 ranger bass boat and still looks great and runs great...just because it is over 10 yrs old not going out to buy new one....camper will be the same way..
you know the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" .....
Happy Camping to all!
